PAGE Second Reading May 10. 1990 Item #10 ORDINANCE NO. 9258 9 AN ORDINANCE ABANDONING AND CLOSING AN ALLEY LOCATED IN BLOCK 4, EAST SIDE ADDITION, AND SOUTH OF AND ADJOINING LOT 4, MOTE ADDITION TO THE CITY OF LUBBOCK, LUBBOCK COUNTY, TEXAS, AND MORE PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED IN THE BODY OF THIS ORDINANCE; DIRECTING THE CITY ENGINEER TO MARK THE OFFICIAL MAPS OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK TO REFLECT SAID ABANDONMENT AND CLOSING; PROVID- ING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION. WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the alley hereinafter described is no longer needed for alley purposes and for public use; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds it would be in the public interest to close, vacate and abandon the same for alley purposes and for public use; NOW THEREFORE: t BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCKf; SECTION 1. THAT the alley hereinafter described shall BE and the same are hereby closed, vacated and abandoned for alley purposes and for public use, being more particularly described as follows: An alley located in Block 4, East Side Addition, and South of and ad- joining Lot 4, Mote Addition, a re-subdivision of portions of Block 2 and 3, East Side Addition to the City of Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas, being further described as follows: BEGINNING at a point which bears East a distance of 140.00 feet from the original Southwest corner of Block 4, East Side Addition to the City of Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas; THENCE North a distance of 285.00 feet; THENCE East a distance of 15.00 feet; THENCE South a distance of 122.50 feet; THENCE S. 45° E. a distance of 14.14 feet; THENCE East a distance of 305.00 feet; THENCE South a distance of 15.00 feet; THENCE West a distance of 305.00 feet; THENCE S. 45° W. a distance of 14.14 feet; THENCE South a distance of 127.50 feet; THENCE West a distance of 15.00 feet to the POINT OF BEGINNING. !l H p ,, ii II il II ' SECTION 2. THAT the City Engineer is hereby authorized and directed to mark the official maps of the City of Lubbock to indicate said abandoning and closing, showing the number of this Ordinance and the date of its final passage. SECTION 3. THAT should any section, paragraph, sentence, phrase, clause or word of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid for any reason, the remainder of this Ordinance shall not be affected thereby. SECTION 4. THAT the City Secretary is hereby authorized and directed to cause publication of the descriptive caption of this Ordinance as an al- ternative method provided by law.
