HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance - 6452-1972 - Designating Portion Of Ave M From 10Th St. To 19Th St. As A One-Way Street - 09/14/1972ORDINANCE NO. 6452 AN ORDINANCE DESIGNATlliG THAT PORTION OF AVENUE M FROM TENTH STREET TO NINETEENTH STREET AS A ONE-WAY STREET AND PERMITTING ONLY VEHICULAR TRAFFIC PROCEEDING NORTH ON SAID PORTION OF SAID STREET; DESIGNATING THAT PORTION OF AVENUE N FROM TENTH STREET TO NINETEENTH STREET AS A ONE-WAY STREET AND PERMITTING ONLY VEHICULAR TRAFFIC PROCEEDING SOUTH ON SAID PORTION OF SAID STREE PROVIDING FOR SIGNS TO INDICATE THAT PORTIONS OF STREETS ARE ONE-WAY; PRESCRIBING A PENALTY; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION OF THE DESCRIPTIVE CAPTION HEREOF AS AN ALTERNATIVE METHOD OF PUBLICA-TION PROVIDED BY LAW. WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the immediate preservation of public peaq·'1 property,, health and safety requires that vehicular traffic on Avenue M from Tenth Street to Nineteenth Street and on Avenue N from Tenth Street to Nineteenth Street should be permitted to proceed in a Northerly and Southerly direction respectively as more particularly hereinafter described; NOW THEREFORE: BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION 1. THAT portion of Avenue M :in the City of Lubbock, Lubbock Count.111 V IITexas, from Tenth Street to Nineteenth Street is hereby designated as a one-way street and only vehicular traffic proceeding North on Avenue M beginning at its intersection with Tenth Street to its intersection with Nineteenth Street shall be pe mitted thereon, and that portion of Avenue N in the City of Lubbock, Lubbock, County, Texas, from Tenth Street to Nineteenth Street is hereby designated as a one-way street and only vehicular traffic proceeding South on Avenue N beginning a-its intersection with Tenth Street to its intersection with Nineteenth Street shall be permitted thereon. SECTION 2. THAT the Traffic Engineer is hereby authorized and directed to place or cause the placing of the necessary traffic signs to indicate that the portion of Avenue M and Avenue N described in Section 1 hereof are one-way streets. SECTION 3. THAT any person operating a vehicle in violation of the foregoing provisions of this Ordinance shall upon conviction be fined any sum not to exceed TWO HUNDRED ($200. 00) DOLLARS.
