ORDINANCE NO. 9336
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 27-55 AND SECTION 27-112 OF THE CODE OF
ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK, TEXAS, WITH REGARD TO INSURANCE AMOUNTS
REQUIRED FOR TAXICAB SERVICES AND LIMOUSINE SERVICES OPERATING WITHIN THE
CITY OF LUBBOCK; PROVIDING A PENALTY; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CIAUSE; AND PROVID-
ING FOR PUBLICATION.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lubbock deems it to be in the
best interest of the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of the City
of Lubbock to increase insurance requirements for taxicab services and
limousine services; NOW THEREFORE:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. THAT Section 27-55 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Lubbock, Texas, is hereby amended to read as follows:
Sec. 27-55. Same--Amounts.
The minimum amounts of liability of public liability and property
damage insurance required shall be the following sums:
(1) For damages arising out of bodily
injury to or death of one person
in any one accident ..............•...•••. $ 50,000.00
(2) For damages arising out of bodily
injury to or death of two (2) or
more persons in any one accident ......•.. $100,000.00
(3) For injury to or destruction of
property in any one accident ............. $ 50,000.00
SECTION 2. THAT Section 27-112 of the Code of Ordinances of the City
of Lubbock, Texas, is hereby amended to read as follows:
Sec. 27-112. Same--Amounts.
The minimum amounts of liability of public liability and property
damage insurance required shall be the following sums:
(1) For damages arising out of bodily
injury to or death of one person
in any one accident .................•.... $ 50,000.00
(2) For damages arising out of bodily
injury to or death of two (2) or
more persons in any one accident ..••..... $100,000.00
(3) For injury to or destruction of
property in any one accident ...•......... $ 50,000.00
SECTION 2. THAT violation of any provision of this Ordinance shall be
a misdemeanor punishable by a fine as provided by Section 1-4 of the Code of
Ordinances of the City of Lubbock, Texas.
SECTION 3, THAT should any section, paragraph, sentence, phrase or
word of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or void for any reason,
the remainder hereof shall not be affected thereby.
SECTION 4. THAT the City Secretary is hereby authorized and directed
to cause publication of this Ordinance as an alternative method of publica-
tion provided by law.
AND IT IS SO ORDERED.
