ORDINANCE NO. 9334
AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING THE DATE OF THE REGULAR MUNICIPAL ELECTION
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ORDER THE REGULAR MUNICIPAL ELECTION OF THE CITY OF
LUBBOCK FOR THE YEAR 1990; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lubbock deems it to be in the
best interest of the citizens of the City of Lubbock to establish the date of
the regular municipal election for the year 1990; and
WHEREAS, the proximity of the City general election requires this Ordi-
nance to be passed on one reading as a matter of grave public necessityj NOW
THEREFORE:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WBBOCK:
SECTION 1. THAT the regular municipal election for the City of Lubbock
shall be held on May 5, 1990, under the applicable provisions of the Texas
Election Code, the Lubbock City Charter and City Ordinances.
SECTION 2. THAT the election shall be held at the polling places set
forth in an appropriate election order issued by the Mayor hereafter and that
all persons qualified to vote in said City under the election laws of the
State of Texas shall be allowed to vote therein. Said general election shall
be held and the polls shall be open from 7:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. and all elec-
tors shall vote in the precinct of their residence unless otherwise provided
in the election order. Electronic voting machines shall be used for this
general election.
SECTION 3. THAT the passage of this Ordinance is a matter of grave
public necessity due to the proximity of the City general election requiring
passage as an emergency measure upon one reading.
SECTION 4. THAT this Ordinance shall take effect and be in full force
immediately from and after its final approval and passage.
