HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance - 9486-1991 - Amending Chapter 13 Code Of Ordinaces - 10/22/1991DWM:js First Reading October 22, 1991 Item #12 Second Reading November 14, 1991 Item #11 ORDINANCE NO. 9486 ~--- AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 13 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF LUBBOCK, TEXAS, ENTITLED "HOUSING," BY AMENDING SECTION 13-1(j}, TO PROVIDE FOR UP TO FOUR (4) ALTERNATE MEMBERS OF THE HOUSING STANDARDS COMMISSION; PRO- VIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION 1. THAT Section 13-1(j) of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Lubbock, Texas, is hereby amended to read as follows: (j) Section 203 of this Uniform Housing Code is hereby amended to read as follows: Sec. 203. In order to provide for final interpretation of the provisions of this Code and to provide for hearings and the is- suance of orders, there is hereby established a housing standards commission consisting of five (5) regular members, and up to four (4) alternate members, who are not employees of the City. The Housing Standards Administrator shall be an ex officio member of and shall act as Secretary to said Commission. The Commission members shall be appointed by the City Council and shall serve for terms of two (2) years unless appointed to serve the remainder of an unexpired term. The Commission may adopt reasonable rules and regulations for conducting its business and shall render all de- cisions and findings in writing to the property owner and also to the Housing Standards Administrator. Hearings before the Com- mission shall be provided for in accordance with the provisions contained in Chapter 12 of this Code. Copies of all rules and regulations adopted by the Commission shall be delivered to the Housing Standards Administrator, who shall make them freely acces- sible to the public. SECTION 2. THAT should any paragraph, sentence, clause, phrase or word of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid for any reason, the remainder of this Ordinance shall not be affected thereby. SECTION 3. THAT the City Secretary is hereby authorized to cause publi- cation of the descriptive caption of this Ordinance as an alternative method provided by law. AND IT IS SO ORDERED.
