FOR CITY EMPLOYEES. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lubbock has determined that the , section of the City's Code of Ordinances which designates certain days as hol- idays for permanent City employees should be amended in the manner set forth below; NOW THEREFORE: BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION 1. THAT Section 2-6 of Chapter 2 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Lubbock BE and is hereby amended to read as follows: •sec. 2-6. Holidays for city employees--Enumerated; when observed generally. (a) (b) (c) The following days are hereby declared holidays for all regular city employees, subject, however, to the limitations herein stated: ·~ (1) New Year's Day--January first. (2) Martin Luther King Day--Third Monday in January. (3) Good Friday--Last Friday before Easter. (4) Memorial Day--Last Monday in May. (5) Independence Day--July fourth. (6) Labor Day--First Monday in September. (7) Thanksgiving Day--Fourth Thursday in November. (8) Christmas Day--December twenty-fifth. One (1) floating holiday--To be taken during calendar year with approval of immediate supervisor in accordance with guidelines established by the City Manager. If the legal holiday falls on a Saturday, the holiday is observed on the preceding Friday. If the holiday falls on a Sunday, the holiday is observed on the following Monday. (d) The designation of the foregoing days as holidays shall not be construed as entitling any such employee to observe such holiday, or the right to be absent from his duty on the dates specified, except as provided in Section 2-7 of the Code of Ordinances."
