ORDINANCE NO. 9455
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 7084 AND THE OFFICIAL MAP OF
THE CITY OF LUBBOCK MAKING THE FOLLOWING CHANGES: ZONE CASE NO. 2437-D; A
ZONING CHANGE FROM R-1, R-2 AND A-1 TO A-2 ZONING LIMITED TO CHURCH USES ON A
TRACT OUT OF SECTION 29, BLOCK A-K, LUBBOCK, TEXAS; SUBJECT TO CONDITIONS;
PROVIDING A PENALTY; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION.
WHEREAS, the proposed changes in zoning as hereinafter made have been
duly presented to the Planning and Zoning Commission for its recommendation
which was received by the City Council and, after due consideration, the City
Council found that due to changed conditions, it would be expedient and in the
interest of the public health, safety and general welfare to make those pro-
posed changes in zoning; and
WHEREAS, all conditions precedent required by law for a valid amendment
to the Zoning Ordinance and Map have been fully complied with, including giv-
ing notices in compliance with Section 29-29 of the Code of Ordinances, City
of Lubbock, Texas, and the notices provided by the Texas Local Government Code
§211.007 (Vernon, 1990), and notice was duly published in the Lubbock
Avalanche-Journal more than fifteen (15) days prior to the date of the public
headng before the City Council on such proposed amendment, and the public
hearing according to said notice was held in the City Council Chamber of the
Municipal Building, Lubbock, Texas, at which time persons appeared in support
of the proposal; and after said hearing, it was by the City Council determined
that it would be in the public interest, due to changed conditions, that the
Zoning Ordinance and the Zoning Map be amended in the manner hereinafter set
forth in the body of this Ordinance and this Ordinance having been introduced
prior to first reading hereof; NOW THEREFORE:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
ZONE CASE NO. 2437-D
' SECTION 1. THAT Ordinance No. 7084 and the-Official Zoning Map BE and
the same are hereby amended as follows, to-wit: ·
A change of zoning from R-1, R-2 and A-1 to A-2 zoning district,
limit~d to church and church related uses, under provisions of
,Section 29-29 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Lubbock, on a~tract out·'of Section 29, Block A-K, City of Lubbock, Lubbock
County, Texas, located North of 82nd Street and East of lola,
subject to conditions and being further described as follows:
METES AND BOUNDS DESCRIPTION for a tract located in Section 29,
Block A-K, lubbock, lubbock County, Texas, being further described
as follows:
BEGINNING at a point in the South line of Section 29, Block A-K,
which bears N. 89.55'20" W. a distance of 1537.42 feet from the
Southeast corner of Section 29, Block A-K, lubbock, lubbock
County, Texas;
THENCE N. 89°55'20" W., along the South line of Section 29, a
distance of 1104.18 feet to the Southwest corner of the Southeast
Quarter of Section 29, Block A-K, lubbock, lubbock County, Texas;
THENCE N. oo•04'22" E., along the West line of the Southeast Quarter,
a distance of 683.23 feet;
THENCE S. 89.55'38" E. a distance of 226.36 feet to a point of
curvature;
THENCE Northeasterly around a curve to the right, said curve
having a radius of 378.71 feet, a central angle of 18°04'22••,
tangent lenths of 60.23 feet, and a chord distance of 118.96
feet;
THENCE N. 12• E. a distance of 9.76 feet;
THENCE S. 00°01'43" W. a distance of 31.55 feet;
THENCE Southwesterly around a curve to the right, said curve
having a radius of 15.00 feet, a central angle of 108°01'43",
tangent lengths of 20.66 feet, and a chord distance of 24.27
feet to a point ortangency;
THENCE s. oo·o1'43" W. a distance of 305.12 feet to a point of
curvature;
THENCE Southeasterly around a curve to the left, said curve having
a radius of 75.00 feet, a central angle of go•, tangent lengths of
75.00 feet, and a chord distance of 106.07 feet;
THENCE S. 89.58'17" E. a distance of 358.96 feet to a point of
curvature;
THENCE Easterly around a curve to the left, said curve having a
radius of 1060.15 feet, a central angle of 06°18'20", tangent
lengths of 58.39 feet, and a chord distance of 116.61 feet to a
point of reverse curvature;
THENCE Easterly around a curve to the right, said curve having a
radius of 940.00 feet, a central angle of 11°01'13", tangent
lengths of 90.68 feet, and a chord distance of 180.52 feet;

THENCE S. 00°01'43" W. a distance of 288.61 feet to the POINT OF
BEGINNING.
CONTAINS: 10.6+ acres
SUBJECT TO THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS:
a. That it be limited to church and church related uses, and
b. That a site plan, including building elevations showing
materials, color and texture, shall be submitted and
approved by the Planning and Zoning Commission prior to
the issuance of a building permit.
SECTION 2. THAT violation of any provisions of this Ordinance shall
be deemed a misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed One Thousand and
No/100 Dollars {$1,000.00) as provided in Section 29-31 of the Zoning Ordi-
nance of the City of Lubbock.
SECTION 3. THAT should any paragraph, sentence, clause, phrase or word
of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid for any reason, the
remainder of this Ordinance shall not be affected thereby.
SECTION 4. THAT the City Secretary is hereby authorized to cause publi-
cation of the descriptive caption of this Ordinance as an alternative method
provided by law.
AND IT IS SO ORDERED.
