HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance - 9577-1992 - Amending Ch 6 Article V Uniform Mechanical Code 1991 - 12/17/1992First Reading December 17, 1992 Item #34 Second Reading January 14, 1993 Ite~ #8 ORDINANCE NO. 9577 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 6, ARTICLE IV OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF LUBBOCK, TEXAS, ENTITLED "MECHANICAL CODE" BY ADOPTING THE UNIFORM MECHANICAL CODE, 1991 EDITION; PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY, PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION. WHEREAS, the proposed amendments to the Mechanical Code have been recommended by the Plumbing and Mechanical Board; and WHEREAS, the City Council has found the proposed amendment to be expedient and in the interest of the public health, safety and general welfare; NOW THEREFORE: BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION 1. THAT Section 6-101 of the Code of Ordinances, City of Lubbock, Texas, is hereby amended to read as follows: "Section 6-101. Uniform Mechanical Code, 1991 Edition, adopted. The 1991 Edition of the Uniform Mechanical Code, as copyrighted in 1991 by the International Conference of Building Officials, Whittier, California, and the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials, Los Angeles, California, along with the appendices thereto, as amended in this article, is specifically adopted as the Mechanical Code of the City, and a copy is attached to the ordinances adopting said code and incorporated herein by reference as though set out completely in detail. References in this article to the Uniform Mechanical Code shall mean the 1991 Edition. A copy of said Uniform Mechanical Code shall be filed with the City Secretary and a copy maintained in the office of the Building Official, all such copies to be open to public inspection during business hours of the offices where they are maintained, with the amendments thereto provided in this article.• SECTION 2. THAT violation of any provisions of this Ordinance shall be deemed a misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed Two Hundred dollars ($200.00) as provided 'in Section 6-103 of the City Code. SECTION 3. THAT should any paragraph, sentence, clause, phrase or word of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid for any reason, the rema1nder of this Ordinance shall not be affected thereby.
