HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance - 9552-1992 - Amending Chapter 23 Regard To Fees For Solid Waste Collection And Dumping - 08/27/1992First Reading August 27,1 992 Item #20 Second Reading September 10, 1992 Item 1116 ORDINANCE NO. 9552 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 23 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK WITH REGARD TO FEES FOR SOLID WASTE COLLECTION AND DUMPING; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lubbock deems it to be in the best interest of the health and safety of the citizens of the City of Lubbock to revise the charges for solid waste collection and dumping; NOW THEREFORE: BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION 1. THAT Subsection (b) of Section 23-21 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Lubbock, Texas, be amended to read as follows: (b) Persons desiring to dump such wastes as described above at the designated City landfill shall pay the following fees: SIZE OF VEHICLE Pickups, small trailers EFFECTIVE OCT. 1. 1992 (% ton or less) ••.•••.••••• $ 6.25 Bobtail truck, pickups (over% ton) • • . • • • $ 18.75 Semitrailers ••••••••••.•••. $ 31.25 Container trucks and packer trucks: 20 cubic yards • • . . • • • • . . • $ 62.50 24 cubic yards ••••••••••••. $ 75.00 28 cubic yards •••••••..•••. $ 87.50 30 cubic yards ••••••.•.•••. $ 93.75 32 cubic yards. . • •.•.•••. $100.00 40 cubic yards . • • • • . ••••• $125.00 The City may, at its option, supersede the above schedule with a charge per ton of waste dumped of twelve dollars and fifty cents ($12.50), effective October 1, 1992. SECTION 2. THAT Section 23-66 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Lubbock, Texas, be amended by amending the language of subsections (a)(l) and (a)(2) to read as follows: (1) Residential: (One Unit) --Eleven dollars ($11.00) per month effective October 1, 1992. (2) Small commercial, churches, day nurseries, private schools, professional offices, home beauty shops, other customary home occupations, nursing homes, orphan, maternity and geriatric homes, lodges, sororities and fraternities generating less than 20 cubic feet per pickup --Eleven dollars ($11.00) per month effective October 1, 1992. SECTION 3. THAT should any section, paragraph. sentence, phrase, clause or word of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid for any reason. the remainder of this Ordinance shall not be affected thereby. SECTION 4. THAT the City Secretary is hereby authorized and directed to cause publication of the descriptive caption of this Ordinance as an alternative method provided by law. AND IT IS SO ORDERED.
