HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance - 9520-1992 - Amending Incentive Pay Ordinance 9583 Educational Incentive Pay - 04/23/1992DGV:js First Reading April 23, 1992 Item #20 Second Reading May 14, 1992 Item #9 ORDINANCE NO. 9520 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE EDUCATIONAL INCENTIVE PAY ORDINANCE NO. 9385 OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK, TEXAS; DEFINING TERMS IN RELATION TO EDUCATIONAL INCENTIVE PAY FOR CIVIL SERVICE MEMBERS OF THE FIRE AND POLICE DEPARTMENTS OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK; PROVIDING FOR SUCH INCENTIVE PAY AND THE REQUIREMENTS AND BASIS THEREFOR; PROVIDING FOR THE REPEAL OF ARTICLE III, CHAPTER 7 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK, TEXAS; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; PRO- VIDING FOR PUBLICATION OF THIS ORDINANCE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Council having determined that in the best interests of the citizens of the City of Lubbock, it is necessary to make an amendment to Ordinance No. 9385 as hereinafter set out and repeal Article III, Chapter 7 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Lubbock in its entirety; NOW THERE- FORE: BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION 1. THAT Section 5 of Ordinance No. 9385 of the City of Lubbock, Texas, is hereby amended to read as follows: SECTION 5. OPTION 2, ACCEPTABILITY OF COURSE CREDITS. Course credits granted by colleges or universities for "prior learning assessment,• •experiential learning,• prior mili- tary experience, prior work experience, and/or courses sponsored and paid for by the City of Lubbock will not be acceptable as a part of: 1. The 60 semester hours required for Educational Incentive Pay. 2. The 120 semester hours required for Additional Educational Incentive Pay. 3. The 150 semester hours required for Masters Educational Incentive. 4. The 30 semester hours in specified course areas required for Educational Incentive Pay or Additional Education Incentive Pay. SECTION 2. THAT Article III of Chapter 7 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Lubbock, Texas, is hereby ·repealed in its entirety and deleted from the Code of Ordinances. SECTION 3. THAT should any section, paragraph, sentence, clause, phrase or word of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid for any rea- son, the remainder of this Ordinance shall not be affected thereby. SECTION 4. THAT the City Secretary is authorized to cause publication of the descriptive caption of this Ordinance as an alternative method of pub- lication as provided by law. AND IT IS SO ORDERED.
