AN ORDINANCE REPEALING THE ORDINANCE EsrABUSH.fNG CURFEW BETWEEN THE HOURS FROM
SUNDOWN TO SUNUP PASSED AS AN EMERGENCY MEASURE ON THE 9TH DAY OF SEPTEMBER, 1971;
PROVIDING FOR IMMEDIATE EFFECTIVE DATE OF THIS ORDINANCE.
WHEREAS, by virtue of a state of emergency declared to exist as proclaimed by
the Mayor of the City of Lubbock on September 9, 1971, an ordinance establishing a
curfew from sundown to sunrise was passed as an emergency measure on the 9th day of
September, 1971, to be effective and in force until repealed by the City Council of
the City of Lubbock, and
WHEREAS, the Mayor of the City of Lubbock has at this time by proclamation
lifted the state of emergency from the City of Lubbock, and
WHEREAS, it is imperative and is hereby declared to be a public necessity that
the citizens of Lubbock return to normalcy as soon as possible creates an emergency
requiring that the rules for reading and passage of this ordinance on two separate
times be suspended, NOW THEREFORE,
BE ll ORDAIAED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK, TEXAS, THAT AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Ordinance No. 6167 be and the same is hereby repealed; provided
however, that the repeal hereof shall not affect any complaints filed for violation
of said Ordinance No. 6167.
SECTION 2. That because of the imperative public necessity stated in the
preamble hereof the rules requiring two separate readings and passage hereof be and
are hereby suspended and the effective date of this ordi shall be immediately
upon passage hereof and execution by the Mayor of the Lubbock.
