AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK DECLARING A GENERAL
CURFEW FOR ALL PERSONS :WITHIN THE CITY OF LUBBOCK DURING THE
HOURS PROVIDED HEREIN AND TO REMAIN IN EFFECT UNTIL RESCINDED,:
AND PROVIDING FOR AN EMERGENCY.
. WHEREAS, a state of emergency has been declared within the City of .
Lubbock, Texas on September 9, 1971; and;
· WHEREAS, th~ City Council has determined that the curfew imposed on
September 9, 1971 should be .continued; and,
~-· WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the need to preserve order and
prevent vandalisim, destruction of property and injury to persons with in .the
City of Lubbock creates an emergency, NOW THEREFORE:

BE. IT qRDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. THAT a curfew is hereby established upon all of the City of Lubbock between the hours from: sundown to sunrise and all persons
within the City of Lubbock shall forthwith remove themselves from the public
streets, alleys, parks or other public places during said hours: provided,
however, that physicians, nurses, ambulance operators _performing medical
services, utility personnel maintaining essential public services, firemen and
City authorized or requested law enforcement officers and personnel as well
as any person or persons who disclose that he or she is enroute to or from their
homes or places of employment, or a regularly scheduled public performance or
place of public worship which is hereby declared to be a lawful activity for being
on the public streets, alleys, parks _or other public places within the City of
Lubbock. -. .. . . -~ -. . . . .
SECTION 2. THAT the curfew imposed by this Ordinance shall remain
i!'l effect from the date of passage _until. rescinded by the City Council.
SECTION 3. THAT any person violating any provision of this Ordinance
shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction shall be punished
by a fine not to exceed TWO HUNDRED ($200. 00) DOLLARS.
SECTION 4. THAT the fact that public necessity and convenience requires
that this Ordinance be passed as an emergency measure for reasons set forth in
the preamble hereof1 the rule requiring that no Ordinance shall be finally passed
on the day of its introduction be suspended, and this Ordinance is declared to be an
emergency measure to take effect from and after its passage.
