ORDINANCE NO. 9646
AN ORDINANCE ABANDONING AND CLOSING A PORTION OF 6TH STREET IN THE CITY
OF LUBBOCK, LUBBOCK COUNTY, TEXAS, AND MORE PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED IN THE BODY OF THIS ORDINANCE; DIRECTING THE CITY ENGINEER TO MARK THE OFFICIAL MAPS OF THE CITY TO REFLECT SAID ABANDONMENT AND CLOSING; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE;
AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION.
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the street portion hereinafter
described in the body of this Ordinance 1s no longer needed for street
purposes and for public use; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds it would be in the public interest to
close, vacate and abandon the same for street purposes and for public use; NOW
THEREFORE:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. THAT the street port-ion as hereinafter described shall BE
and the same is hereby closed, vacated and abandoned for street purposes and
for public use, and being more particularly described as follows:
METES AND BOUNDS DESCRIPTION for the plat limits of Tract "A",
Block 24, a replat of part of Lots 8, 9 and 10, Block 24, and a
part of 6th Street, Original Town of Lubbock, Lubbock County,
Texas and being further described as follows:;
BEGINNING at a "crow's foot• cut in concrete for the original
Northwest corner of Lot 1, Block 40, Original Town of Lubbock,
Lubbock County, Texas;
THENCE Northeasterly around a curve to the right, said curve
having a radius of 538.44 feet, a central angle of 16°45'37°,
a chord distance of 156.94 feet and a chord bearing of N.
17°31 1 42" E. to a 1/2" rod with cap set;
THENCE S. 39°37'42° E. a distance of 119.02 feet to a railroad spike set;
THENCE South a distance of 57.99 feet to a point;
THENCE West a distance of 123.18 feet to the POINT OF BEGIN-
NING.

SECTION 2. THAT the City Engineer is hereby authorized and directed to
mark the official maps of the City of Lubbock to reflect said abandonment and closing, showing the number of this Ordinance and the date of its final pas-
sage.
SECTION 3. THAT should any section, paragraph, sentence, phrase, clause
or word of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid for any rea-
son, the remainder of this Ordinance shall not be affected thereby.
SECTION 4. THAT the City Secretary of the City of Lubbock is hereby
authorized and directed to cause publication of the descriptive caption of
this Ordinance as an alternative method provided by law.
