AN ORDINANCE ABANDONING AND CLOSING PORTIONS OF 98TII STREET LOCATED IN SECTION 14, BLOCK E-2, LUBBOCK, LUBBOCK COUNTY, TEXAS, AND ~ MORE PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED IN THE BODY OF TinS ORDINANCE; DIRECTING THE CITY ENGINEER TO MARK THE OFFICIAL MAPS OF THE CITY TO REFLECT SAID ABANDONMENT AND CLOSING; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING FORPUBUCATION. WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the street portions hereinafter described in the body of this Ordinance are no longer needed for street purposes and for public use; and WHEREAS. the City Council finds it would be in the public interest to close, vacate and abandon the same for street purposes and for public use; NOW TIIEREFORE: BE IT ORDAINED BY TilE CITY COUNCil. OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION 1. TIIAT the street portions as hereinafter described shall BE and the same is hereby closed, vacated and abandoned for street purposes and for public use, and being more particularly descn'bed as follows: :METES AND BOUNDS DESCRIPTION of a portion of 98th Street be closed and abandoned, located in Section 14, Block E-2, Lubbock County, Texas, and being further descn'bed as follows: BEGINNING at a Yi" rod set with c.ap in the North right-of-way line of 98th Street which bears S. 89°58'50" E., a distance of951.68 feet and N. 00001 '10" E. a distance of 20.00 feet from the Southwest comer of Section 14, Block E-2. Lubbock County, Texas; THENCE Northeasterly, along said right-of-way line, around a curve to the right, said curve having a raaius of 712.53 feet, a central angle of 02°48'48", tangent lengths of 17 .SO feet and a chord distance of 34.98 feet to a point in the West line of a 20 foot alley; TIIENCE S. 00°01 '10" W., along said alley line a distance of 0.06 feet to a Yi" rod found with cap; TIIENCE S. 45°01 '10" W. a distance of 14.14 feet to a Yi" rod found with cap; TIIENCE N. Sg<JS8'SO" W. a distance of 23.50 feet to the POINT OF BEGINNING. SECTION 2. TIIAT the City Engineer is hereby authorized and directed to mark: the official maps of the City of Lubbock to reflect said abandonment and closing, showing the number of this Ordinance and the date of its final passage. v~L 4656rAcE 33 SECTION 3. THAT should any section, ~h, sentence, phrase, clause or word of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or mvalid for any reason, the remainder of this Ordinance shall not be affected thereby. SECTION 4. THAT the City Secretary of the City of Lubbock is hereby authorized and directed to cause publication of the descriptive caption of this Ordinance as an alternative method provided by law. .
