File And Return To Ed lucy R-0-W First Reading June 9, 1994-AB Item 1112 VOL~ 31PACE Second Reading July 14, 1994 Item ##8 ~79 9711 ORDINANCE NO.----- AN ORDINANCE ABANDONING AND CLOSING A PORTION OF FORDHAM STREET LOCATED IN SECTION lS, BLOCK A, LUBBOCK, LUBBOCK COUNTY, TEXAS, AND MORE PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED IN THE BODY OF TinS ORDINANCE; DIRECTING THE CITY ENGINEER TO MARK THE OFFICIAL MAPS OF THE CITY TO REFLECT SAID ABANDONMENT AND CLOSING; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING FOR PUBUCATION. WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the street portion hereinafter described in the body of this Ordinance is no longer needed for street purposes and for public use; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds it would be in the public interest to close, vacate and abandon the same for street purposes and for public use; NOW THEREFORE: BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION 1. THAT the street portion hereinafter described shall BE and the same is hereby closed, vacated and abandoned for street purposes and for public use, being more particu- larly described as follows: FIELD NOTES on a 7523 square foot tract out of Section IS, Block A, Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas, being a portion of Fordham Street proposed for closure, being further described as follows: BEGINNING at the original Northeast comer of Lot 1, Block 21, Country Club Addition to the City ofLubbock, Lubbock County, Texas; THENCE West, a distance of 165.10 feet to a point in the East ROW line of AvenueQ; THENCE N. 30~1 '40" E., a distance of S7 .9S feet; THENCE East, a distance of 135.80 feet to the original Southeast comer of Lot 24, Block 20; THENCE S. 00°01'15" W., a distance of SO.OO feet to the POINT OF BEGINNING. SECTION 2. THAT the City Engineer is hereby authorized and directed to mark the official maps of the City ofLubbock to reflect said abandonment and closing, showing the number of this Ordinance and the date of its final passage. , 'v~i 4631 fAG£ \80 SECTION 3. THAT should any section, paragraph, sentence, phrase, clause or word of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid for any reason, the remainder of this Ordi- nance shall not be affected thereby. SECTION 4. THAT the City Secretary of the City of Lubbock is hereby authorized and directed to cause publication of the descriptive caption of this Ordinance as an alternative method provided by law.
