HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance - 9834-1955 - Amend Chapter 2 Civic Centers Advisory Board. - 08/24/1995I First Reading Augus 24, 1995 Item 26 Second Reading September 14, 1995 Item 116 II I ' ORDINANCENO. 9834 I AN iRDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 2 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY bF LUBBOCK, TEXAS, WITH REGARD TO THE CIVIC CENTERS I ADVISOR X BOARD OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE; 1 PROVIDINr A SAVINGS CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION. 1 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lubbock heretofore created a City of 1 Lubbock M~rger Committee to provide a mechanism by which the City of Lubbock may speak with a singl~ voice in promoting the community, including joint marketing efforts; and WHEREAS, the Merger Comittee has recommended the combining of the functions of the Civic Ce!nters Advisory Board of the City of Lubbock with those of the Convention and Tourist BurJau of Lubbock, Inc., as an initial step in such process; and I I I WHEREAS, the City Council desires to discontinue the Civic Centers Advisory Board of the City of :Uubbock and to have such advisory duties performed by the Convention and Tourism Bureau of Lhbbock, Inc., pursuant to contract; and wtWREAS, such discontinuance of the Civic Centers Advisory Board will require an amendment to Chapter 2 of the Code of Ordinances; NOW THEREFORE: I I BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: I SEdfiON 1. THAT Article IV of Chapter 2 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Lubbock, Texas, pertaining to Civic Centers and consisting of Division 1 and Division 2, is hereby repellled. SEdTION 2. THAT during any interim period of time between adoption of this Ordinance ahd assumption of the former duties of the Civic Centers Advisory Board by the Convention 1and Tourism Bureau of Lubbock, Inc., any and all rules and regulations promulgated by the Civic Centers Advisory Board and approved by the City Council of the City of Lubbock shall continye in full force and effect. SECfnON 3. THAT this Ordinance shall be effective upon final passage by the City Council of the City of Lubbock. I i ,. jl I 1· SECTION 4. THAT should any paragraph, section, sentence, phrase, clause or word of I this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid for any reason, the remainder of this I Ordinance shall not be affected thereby. 1 1 SECTION 5.
