AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE ALTERING AND CHANGING OF THE
PRIMA FACIE SPEED LIMIT FOR ALL VEIITCLES ON THE FOLLOWING STREE'l S
IN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK,, LUBBOCK COUNTY.,
TEXAS., TO-WIT: A 20 MPH SPEED ZONE ON SLIDE ROAD., BEGINNING 68 1
(FEET) SOUTH OF THE SOUTH SIDE OF 13TH STREET AND EXTENDING NORTE
FOR A D1STANCE OF 814r (FEET); AUTHORIZING THE PLACING OF SPEED
LilVIIT SIGNS; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; PRO-
VIDING THAT STREETS OR HIGHWAYS NOI' SPECIFICALLY SET FORTH HERE!
SHALL NOT BE AFFECTED BY THE PROVISIONS HEREOF AND THAT THIS
ORDINANCE SHALL BE CUMULATIVE OF ALL OTHER PRIMA FACJE SPEED
LIMIT ORDINANCES EXCEPT THOSE WITH WHICH IT SPECIFICALLY CONFLIC' 'S;
PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE: PRESCRIBING A PENALTY AND PROVIDING
FOR PUBLICATION.
WHEREAS, the governing body of the City of Lubbock, as authorized by
Article 6701d, Section 169(b) Vernon1s Texas Civil Statutes, finds that certain
prima facie speed limits on certain highways in the vicinity of school areas during
periods of time when the schools are in session and school children are going to
and from the schools and playgrounds are different from what is reasonable or
safe and should be altered and the immediate preservation of public health and
safety requires imruediate alteration of said prima facie speed limits as herein-
after set forth, NOW THEREFORE:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. THAT the prima facie speed limit established by Article 6701d,
Section 166 (a)(l) --Vernon ts Texas Civil Statutes is altered and changed for all
vehicles to twenty (20) miles per hour during the time the flashing traffic control
signal is in operation on the following designated highways or streets in the corpor •
ate limits of the City of Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas~ to-wit: On Slide Road1
beginning 68 1 (feet) South of the South side of 13th Street and extending North for
a distance of 814' (feet).
SECTION 2. THAT the City Manager is authorized and directed to cause the
placing of signs and traffic control signals so as to clearly define the limits of the
prima facie areas set out in this Ordinance, and give notice when such speed
limit shall be in effect.
SECTION 3. THAT all Ordinances or parts of Ordinances conflicting with
any of the provisions hereof are hereby repealed insofar as such conflict exists.
SECTION 4. THAT all highways or streets not specifically set forth in the
preceding sections hereof shall not be affected by the provisions hereof, and this
Ordinance shall be cumulative of all other prima facie speed limit Ordinances
except those with which it specifically conflicts.

SECTION 5. THAT should any section, paragraph, sentence, clause, phrase
or word of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid for any reason,
the remainder of this Ordinance shall not be affected thereby.
SECTION 6. THAT any person, firm or corporation violating the prima
facie speed limit established by this Ordinance shall, upon conviction, be fined
any sum not to exceed TWO HUNDRED {$200. 00) DOLLARS.
SECTION 7. THAT the City Secretary is authorized and directed to cause
the publication of the descriptive caption of this Ordinance together with the
penalty provision as an alternative method of publication as provided by law.
