AN ORDINANCE AMENJ;)ING SECTION 2 OF ORDINANCE NO~ 4725~
KNOWN AS THE BUILDING CODE OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK. TO PROVIDE
THAT 1 1/211 DIMENSIONAL LUMBER KILN DRIED TO 15o/o AVERAGE MOJS ...
TURE CONTENT WITH A MAXIMUM OF 19o/o M01STURE CONTENT MAY BE
USED FOR RESIDENTIAL CONSTRUCTION IF PROPERLY MARKED AND
IDENTIFIED; AND PROVIDING A SPANNING TABLE FOR USE OF THIS LUMBE
WHEREAS~ the City Council. of the City of Lubbock after due consideration
finds that the proposed amendment to the City of Lubbock Building Code as herein
after set out will be in the public interest; NOW THEREFORE:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. THAT Chapter 25,. Section 2503(a) of the Uniform Building
Code# 1964 edition,. BE and the same is hereby amended to read as follows:
"Sec. 2503(a) Required Sizes. Wood members shall be of sufficient
size to carry the dead and required live loads without exceeding the
allowable unit stresses as hereinafte r specified; provided that in no
event shall the above be construed to prohibit the use of} 1/2''
dimensional lumber kiln dried to 15o/o average moisture content with
a maximum of 19% moisture content in residential construction so
long as said lumber is positively identified by grade mark of a cer.,.
tified lumber= grading agency and marked to indicate it as being kiln
dried. Use of this lumber shall be in accordance with the spanning
table attached hereto and made a part of this Ordinance for all pur ...
poses,. and said table shall be known as Table No. 25 ... w."
SECTION 2. THAT the above amendment shall be codified as Subsection
16. 1 of Ordinance No. 4725.
