ORDINANCE NO. 9944
AN ORDINANCE CANCELING AUTHORITY AND APPROVAL FOR VARIOUS
TRAFFIC CONTROL SIGNALS IN THE DOWNTOWN AREA OF LUBBOCK AND
AUTHORIZING THE REMOVAL OF SUCH TRAFFIC CONTROL SIGNALS AS
OPERATIVE TRAFFIC CONTROL SIGNALS.
WHEREAS, there presently exist traffic control signals at various locations in downtown
Lubbock as designated on Exhibit A to this Ordinance; and
WHEREAS, after traffic engineering studies were conducted by the Traffic Engineering
Department of the City of Lubbock, the Citizens Traffic Commission recommends to the City
Council that such traffic control signals be removed, and the Council concurs with that
recommendation; NOW THEREFORE:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. THAT the authorization and approval for traffic control signals at the
locations named in Exhibit A to this Ordinance, which Exhibit A is attached hereto and made a
part hereof for all intents and purposes, is hereby canceled and any prior ordinances, resolutions
or orders of the City of Lubbock in conflict herewith with regard to the traffic control signals
enumerated in Exhibit A are hereby superseded and of no effect.
SECTION 2. THAT the City Manager or his designee is hereby authorized to remove or
cause to be removed the said traffic control signals indicated in Exhibit A as operative traffic
signals as soon as practicable after the final passage of this Ordinance.
AND IT IS SO ORDERED
