AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 28 ... 7 ~)CODE OF ORDINANCES a CITY
'-" ')F LUBBOCKa TEXAS (SECTION 1 OF ORDINANCE 2429 OF THE CITY OF
LUBBOCK) TO PROVIDE IN THE EXCEPTION THEREIN FOUND., THAT THE
PROPER NUMBER DESIGNATED BY THE BUILDING INSPECTOR FOR THE
PREMISES CAN BE PAINTED ON THE SIDES OF THE DRIVEWAY, ABUTTING T
PREMISES AND CHANGING THE SPECIFICATIONS THEREIN AND PROVIDING
FOR PUBLICATION OF THIS ORDINANCE.
WHEREAS, the City Council has previously granted the proprietors of premi es
the authority to paint house or building numbers abutting property; and#
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the painting of the numbers on the
sides of the driveway abutting the premises and increasing the authorized size of
the numbers and their background would be a convenience to the public and will
assist in mail deliveries: NOW THEREFORE:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. THAT that portion of Section 28 .. 7 of the Code of Ordinances,
City of Lubbock_ Texas ()ection 1 of Ordinance No. 2429 of the City of Lubbock,
Texas) which now reads, towwit:
rrEXCEPTION: The proprietor of any premises is hereby authorized
to paint or authorize the painting upon the top side or street side or
both of the curb abutting the premises the proper number designated
by the Building Inspector for such premises PROVIDED the numbering
is black in color on a white background, the number does not exceed
three (3) inches in height and the background does not exceed four
and one-half (4 1/2) inches in height and twenty (20) inches in length
and the paint used for such purpose is durable paint designed for
application to concrete surfaces. 11
BE and the same is hereby amended to read hereafter as follows~ to ... wit:
"EXCEPTION: The proprietor of any premises is hereby authorized
to paint or authorize the painting upon the top side or street side of
the curb; or on the sides of the driveway. abutting the premises the
proper number designated by the Building Inspector for such premises
PROVIDED the numbering is black in color on a white background or
white in color on a green background, the number does not exceed four
(4) inches in height and the background does not exceed six (6) inches
in height and twenty (20) inches in length and the paint used for such
purpose is durable paint designed for application to concrete surfaces."
SECTION 2. The City Secretary shall cause the publication of this Ordinanc
once a week for two consecutive weeks in a newspaper regularly published in the
City of Lubbock.
