AN ORDINANCE ABANDONING AND CLOSING A PORTION OF THIRD
PLACE LYING BETWEEN BDOCKS 35 AN.Q 36 OF MADDOX ADDITION TO THE
CITY OF LUBBOC~ LUBBOCK COUNTY" TEXAS; THE EAST-WEST ALLEY
THROUGH BLOCK 36 OF THE MADDOX ADDITION; AND THE EAST-WEST ALLJ Y
AND THE NORTH-SOUTH ALLEY THROUGH BLOCK 35 OF THE MADDOX AD-
DITION AS MORE PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED IN THE BODY OF THIS ORDINA C.E
AND DIRECTING THE CITY ENGINEER TO MARK THE OFFICIAL MAP CF THE
CITY OF LUBBOCK TO INDICATE THE CLOSING AND ABANDONMENT OF SAJD
PROPERTY.
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that a portion of Third Place amd the
alleys through Blocks 35 and 36 of Maddox Addition as hereinafter more particu-
larly described are no longer needed for street and alley purposes or for public
use; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds it would be in the public interest to
close" vacate and abandon same for street and alley purposes and to public use;
NOW THEREFORE:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1.. THAT a portion of Third Place lying between Blocks 35 and
36 of Maddox Addition to the City of Lubbock, Lubbock County,. Texas; the East-
West alley through Block 36 of Maddox Addition; and the East-West alley and the
North-South alley through Block 35 of the Maddox Addition as hereinafter describe ~
shall be and the same are hereby closed .. vacated and abandoned for street and al-
ley purposes and for public use; said tracts of land being particularly described a.
follows, to-wit:
PARCEL I.
A parcel of land out of Section 20, Block A:; Lubbock County, Texas,
more fully described as follows:
BEGINNING at the North-west corner of Lot 14, Block 36, Maddox
Addition~ an addition to the City of Lubbock;
THENCE North 50 feet to a point, said point being the Southwest
corner of Lot 20, Block 35, said Maddox Addition;
THENCE East along the South side of Block 35 a distance of 350
feet to a point, said point being the Southeast corner of Lot 11,
Block 35;
THENCE South 50 feet to a point, said point being the Northeast
corner of Block 36, said Maddox Addition;

THENCE West a distance of 350 feet along the North side of said
Block 3 6 to the POINT OF BEGINNING.
PARCEL II.
A parcel of land out of Section 20, Block A, Lubbock County, Texas,
more fully described as follows:
BEGINNING at the Northwest corner of Lot 15, Block 36, Maddox
Addition, an addition to the City of Lubbock;
THENCE North a distance of 12. 5 feet to a point, said point being the
Southwest corner of Lot 14, Block 36, said Maddox Addition;
THENCE East a distance of 350 feet along the South side of Lots 14
through 1 of said Block 36, Maddox addition to a point, said point
being the Southeast corner of Lot 1, Block 36, Maddox Addition;
THENCE South 12. 5 feet to a point, said paint being the North-east
corner of Lot 28 of said Block 36, Maddox Addition;
THENCE West along the North line of Lots 28 through 15, said
Block 36, Maddox Addition a distance of 350 feet to the POINT OF
BEGINNING.
PARCEL III.
A parcel of land out of Section 20, Block A, Lubbock County, Texas,
more fully described as follows:
BEGINNING at the Northwest corner of Lot 20, Block 35, Maddox
Addition, an addition to the City of Lubbock;
THENCE North 12. 5 feet to a point, said point being the South-
west corner of Lot 19, said Block 35, Maddox Addition;
THENCE East along the South line of Lots 19 through 12 .. Block 35
said Maddox Addition a distance of 200 feet to a point, said point
being the Southeast corner of Lot 12, said Block 35, Maddox
Addition:
THENCE North a distance of 137. 5 feet along the East side of said
Lot 1 2, Block 35, Maddox Addition to a point, said point being the
Northeast corner of said Lot 12, Block 35, Maddox Addition;
THENCE East a distance of 12. 5 feet to a point, said point being the
Northwest corner of Lot 1, said Block 35, Maddox Addition;
THENCE South along the West end of Lots 1 through 11, said Block
35. Maddox Addition a distance of 287.2 feet more or less to a point,
said point being the Southwest corner of Lot 11, Block 35, Maddox
Addition;
THENCE West a distance of 12. 5 feet to a point~ said point being
the Southeast corner of Lot 27 6 said Block 35, Maddox Addition;
THENCE North a distance of 137.2 feet along the East side of Lot
27, Block 35, Maddox Addition;
THENCE West along the North side of Lots 27 through 20, said
Block 35, Maddox Addition a distance of 200 feet to the POINT OF
BEGINNING.
SECTION 2. THAT the City Engineer is hereby authorized and directed
mark the Official Map of the City of Lubbock to indicate that the portion of Third
Place and the alleys as described in Section 1 hereof have been Cbsed and abandon d,
showing the number of this ordinance and the date of final passage.
AND IT IS SO ORDERED.

Passed by the City Council on second reading this 16th day of July 1 1964.
