ORDINANCE NO. 10144
AN ORDINANCE ABANDONING AND CLOSING A PORTION OF NORTH
QUINTON AVENUE AND A PORTION OF JARVIS STREET IN THE DEPAUW-
MCLARTY ADDITION TO THE CITY OF LUBBOCK, LUBBOCK COUNTY,
TEXAS, ALL OF WHICH ARE MORE PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED IN THE
BODY OF THIS ORDINANCE; DIRECTING THE CITY ENGINEER TO MARK THE
OFFICIAL MAPS OF THE CITY TO REFLECT SAID ABANDONMENT AND
CLOSING; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING FOR
PUBLICA TON.
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the street portions hereinafter described
in the body of this Ordinance are no longer needed for street purposes and public use and.
WHEREAS, the City Council finds it would be in the public interest to close,
vacate and abandon the same for street purposes and for public use; NOW THEREFORE:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. THAT the street portions as hereinafter described shall BE and the
same are hereby closed, vacated and abandoned for street purposes and for public use,
such street portions being more particularly described as follows:
TRACT ONE
A portion ofN. Quinton Avenue to be closed between Lots 207,208,275, and
276, DePauw-McLarty Addition to the City of Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas,
according to the map, plat, and/or dedication deed thereof recorded in Volume
672, Page 447, Deed Records of Lubbock County, Texas, being further described
as follows:
BEGINNING at a 5/8" iron rod found in line with the South right-of-way line of
Kemper Street which bears N. 01°48' E. 15.00 feet from the most Easterly
Northeast comer of Lot 207, DePauw-McLarty Addition to the City of Lubbock,
Lubbock County, Texas;
THENCE S. 88°12' E. a distance of 71.00 feet to the most Northerly Northwest
comer of Lot 276, Depauw-McLarty Addition; ·
THENCE Southwesterly around a curve to the left, said curve having a radius of
15.00 feet, a central angle of90°, tangent lengths ofl5.00 feet, and a chord
distance of 21.21 feet to a point for the Westernmost Northwest comer of said Lot
276;

THENCE S. 01 °48' W., at 98.5 feet pass the Southwest comer of said Lot 276, at
118.50 feet pass the Northwest comer of Lot 275, DePauw-McLarty Addition,
and continuing along the West line of said Lot 275 for a total distance 232.00 feet
to a ~" iron rod set;
THENCE N. 88°12' W. a distance of71.00 feet to a point for the most Southerly
Southeast comer of Lot 208, DePauw-McLarty Addition;
THENCE Northeasterly around a curve to the left, said curve having a radius of
15.00 feet, a central angle of90°, tangent lengths of 15.00 feet, and a chord
distance of 21.21 feet to a point for the most Easterly Southeast comer of said Lot
208;
THENCE N. 01°48' E., at 98.50 feet pass a W' iron rod found at the Northeast
comer of said Lot 208, at 118.50 feet pass a 5/8" iron rod found at the Southeast
comer of said Lot 207, at 217.00 feet pass the most Easterly Northeast comer of
said Lot 207, and continuing for a total distance of232.00 feet to the Point of
Beginning.
TRACT TWO
A portion of Jarvis Street to be closed adjacent to Lots 273 and 274, DePauw-
McLarty Addition to the City of Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas, according to
the map, plat, and/or dedication deed thereof recorded in Volume 672, Page 447,
Deed Records of Lubbock County, Texas, being further described as follows:
BEGINNING at a W' iron rod with cap set at the most Northerly Northwest
comer of Lot 274, DePauw-McLarty Addition to the City of Lubbock, Lubbock
County, Texas,;
THENCE Southwesterly and along the Northern limits of Lots 274 and 273,
DePauw-McLarty Addition, around a curve to the right, said curve having a
radius ot 50.00 feet, a central angle of 111°53' 18", tangent lengths of 73.97 feet, a
chord distance of 82.85 feet, and a chord bearing ofN. 88°12' W. to a point for
the Northernmost Northeasterly comer of said Lot 273;
THENCE S. 88°12' E., a distance of82.85 feet to the Point of Beginning.
SECTION 2. THAT the City Engineer is hereby authorized and directed to mark
the official maps of the City of Lubbock to reflect said abandonment and closing,
showing the number of this Ordinance and the date of its final passage.
SECTION 3. THAT should any section, paragraph, sentence, phrase, clause or
word of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid for any reason, the
remainder of this Ordinance shall not be affected thereby.

SECTION 4. THAT the City Secretary of the City of Lubbock is hereby
authorized and directed to cause publication of the descriptive caption of this Ordinance
as an alternative method provided by law.
