AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND "THE CODE OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK. 1955 1
BY AMENDING CHAPTER 34, SECTIONS 10~ 11 AND 12 TO PROVIDE A NEW
SCHEDULE OF RATES AND AMOUNTS CHARGED FOR WATER; TO CHANGE THE
MINIMUM RATE FOR WATER; AND TO PROVIDE NEW WATER RATES FOR TEX S
TECHNOLOGICAL COLLEGE; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AND EF;FECTIVE
DATE OF THIS ORDINANCE. .
WHEREAS, the City Commission believes it to be in the public interest to
establish a new schedule of rates to be charged to users of City water, which effect
the usual daily operation of a municipal department and thereby creates an emerge y
NOW THEREFORE:
BE rr ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. Chapter 34, Sections 10 .. 11 and 12 of 11THE CODE OF THE CIT
OF LUBBOCK. 1955" is hereby amended to hereafter read as follows:
Sec. 34-10. Rates--Amount.
The· City, through its water department, shall charge and collect and every
consumer of water within the corporate limits shall pay .. for water furnished by the
City to the consumer, the amounts calculated by application of the following rates
to meter readings:
First 3~ 000 gallons per month • • • . . . . . . . . $ 3.25
Next 7, 000 gallons per month, per 1 .. 000 • . . ' . • 50
Next 40 .. 000 gallons per month., per 1, 000 • . . • • • 40
Next 200,000 gallons per month, per 1, 000 • . . • 38
In excess of 250,000 gallons per month,. per 1, 000 • • • • • • 34
Sec. 34-11. Same--Minimum rate.
A minimum rate for water charged all consumers within the corporate limits
on meters shall be three dollars and twenty-five cents per month.
Sec. 34-12. Same--Texas Technological College.
The rates established in Section 34-10 of this Code shall be applicable to wate
consumed by the Texas Technological College; provided, however, that the rate for
each one thousand gGlllons of water per month in excess of one million gallons of
water per month shall be thirty cents per one thousand gallons; provided further,
that all meters used for measuring water consumed on the Texas Technological
College campus grounds shall be totaled and the college billed as if all water con-
sumed passed through one meter.
SECTION 2. The rule requiring an ordinance to be read on two readings be-
fore final passage is hereby sus~ended.. and this ordinance is declared to be an
emergency measure for the reasons set forth in the preamble hereof .. to take effect
after its passage on the 1st day of November~ 1963.
