WHEREAS, the Southeast Lubbock Development Board at the request of the Ci~ Commission of the City of Lubbock has undertaken to carry out that certain housing project heretofore informally and unofficially known as the Weber Arms Project1 said project being located in the Urban Renewal area on approximately nineteen {19) acres situated on or near Weber Avenue between 24th Street and Quirt Avenue; and, WHEREAS,. the City Commission has found and is of the opinion that it is essential to the efficient management of this project that the said Southeast Lubboc Development Board membership remain as it is presently constituted in order that extremely important work involved in this project may be expeditiously carried out, 1 and~ WHEREAS. the present membership will be changed by the replacing of four members each year under the provisions of Section 2-25 of the Code of Ordinance · City of Lubbock, Texas; NOW THEREFORE: BE IT ORD1\1NED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: THAT. Section 2-25 of the Code of Ordinances, City of Lubbock, Texas, is hereby amended to read as follows: I Section 2-25. Creation; composition; appointment and terms of members. I There is hereby created and established a board to be known as the Southeast Lubbock Development Board, to be composed of twelve members1 each of whom shall be a resident citizen of the city. The members of the board shall be appointe by the city commission and shall hold their office for a term of three years .. excep that four of the members first selected shall hold office for terms of one year, four members shall hold office for terms of two years and four members shall hold office for terms of three years, the term of each to be determined by lot, and thereafter their successors shall hold office for three years and until their successors are appointed; provided that effective the 28th day of March~ 1963, thEj membership of the board shall remain as constituted on such date until the expirat~ n of one (1) year following the completion of that certain housing project located in thib Urban Renewal Area, being approximately nineteen (19) acres situated on or near f Weber Avenue between 24th Street and Quirt Avenue in the City of Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas; subject to the filling of such vacancies as may occur as provided ii'\ Section 2-26, Article IV, of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Lubbock. The City Commission~ in making appointments to such board, shall endeavor to make all appointments so that at all times there will be at least three members from the city real estate board and three members of the Negro race.
