HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance - 3657-1961 - Prohibiting Parking On E And W Boston Ave 19Th St S - 11/21/1961:wg ll-21_-\~(() ORDINANCE NO. 3657 AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING PARKING ON TEE EAST ' AND WEST SIDES OF BOSTON AVENUE FROM 19TH STREET SCUTH A DISTANCE OF 410 FEET AND THE EAST AND WEST SIDES OF FLINT AVENUE FROM 19TH STREET SOUTH A DIS-· TANCE OF 410 FEET AND ON THE EAST AND WEST SIDES OF INDIANA AVENUE FROvf 19TH STREET SOUTH A DISTANCE OF 410 FEET; AUTHORIZING THE PlACING OF UNIFCIR.M SIGNS AND PAINTING OF THE CURBS; PR<YIDING A PENALTY; RE- PEALING CRDINANCE NO. 1584 AS FINALLY PASSED ON THE 8TH DAY:. _QF JULY, 1954; AUTHCRIZING PUBLICATICN OF THIS CAPTICN; AND DECLARING AN EMERGEN'CY. WHEREAS, the City Commission finds that the congestion of moving:. vehicular traffic on Boston Avenue, Flint Avenue and Indiana Avenue re- quires the elimination of parking in the area described in the caption of this Ordinance and herea:fter more particularly described, and further :finds that such measures are necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace and sa:fety, constituting an emergency; NCW' THEREFCRE: BE I.T CRDAINED BY THE CITY COvfMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBO:::K: SECTICN 1. THAT the parking of vehicles is prohibited at all time on the following described streets, more particularly described as follows: (1) (2) (3) {4} On the East side of Boston Avenue :from 19th .Street South a .'.distance of 410 feet. On the West side of Boston Avenue from 19th Street South a distance of 410 feet. On the East side of Flint Avenue from 19th Street South a distance of 410 feet. Ol the West side o£ Flint Avenue from 19th Street South a distance of 410 feet, ( 5) Ol the East side of Indiana Avenue from 19th Street South a distance of 410 feet. ( 6) Ol the West ~ide of Indiana Avenue from 19th Street South a distance of 410 feet. SECTION 2. It shall be unlawful for any person to allow,permit or suffer any?_ vehicle to be parked on that portion of the streets described in Section 1 (One) of this Ordinance. SECTION 3. The Tra:ffic Engineer is hereby authorized and dir- ected :to paint the curbs and to place uniform signs at the locations describ- ed in Section 1 {One) consistent with the provjsions of this Ordinance. I I SECTION 4. Any person, firm or corporation who shall violate the provisions of this Ordinance shall, upon conviction, be fined in any sum not exceeding Two Hundred Dollars ($200. 00). SECTION 5. THA T Ordinance No . 1584 of the City of Lubbock as finally passed by the City Commission on the 8th day :of July, 1954, BE, and the same is hereby REPEALED. SECTION 6. The fad that heavy, congested traffic requires the immediate and full use of those portions of Boston Avenue, Flint A venue and Indiana Avenue, as more particularly described in Section 1 (Ole) of this Ordinance, constitutes an emergency requiring the suspension of all rules providing that no Ordinances shall be enacted at the meeting of its introduction; and such rules are suspended to preserve the public peace and _safety, and this Ordinance shall be effective from and after its unani- mous passage. SECTION 7. The City Secretary is hereby authorized and directed to have the descriptive caption ~and the pen alty clause of this Ordinance publishe d, as provided by law.
