OF THE STREETS DESCRIBED AS FO:LLOHS:
On the North side of Parkway Drive (u.s. 82) beginning 0.20 miles
West of Quirt Avenue and extending »:let for 1.397 miles. This is for West bound

~S, the governing body, as authorized by Article 827a, Sec. 8,
Vernonts Annotated Penal Code, :f'inds that certain prima :f'aeie speed limits on
certain highways are different from what is reasonable or safe and should be
altered and tbeimnediate preservation of public health and safety requires 1m·
mediate alteration of said prima facie speed limits as hereafter set forth, -·
which creates an emergency; NOW' THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. The prima facie speed limit established by Article 827a,
See. 8, Subsection 1 (b), Vernon's Annotated Penal Code is altered and changed
for all vehicles to 50 miles per hour on the following designated highways
or street in the corporate limits of the City of l.ubbock, Lubbock County,
Texas , to-wit:
On the North side of Parkway Drive (U.S. 82) beginning 0.20 miles
West of Quirt Avenue and extending East for 1.397 miles. This is for
West boWld traffic only.
SECTION 2. The City Manager is authorized and directed to cause the
ptaeing of signs so as to clearly define the limits of the prima facie areas
set out in this Ordinance.
SECTION 3. An person, firm or corporation violating the prima racie
speed limit established ~ this Ordinance shall upon conviction be fined in
any sum not. toeKCeed TWO HUNDRED DOLlARS ($200o00) and for subsequent viola ..
tions within one year thereafter shall be prosecuted as prescribed for such
violations by Seco 15 of Article 827a, Vernonia Annotated Penal Code.
SECTION 4. The City Secretary is authorized and directed to cause
the publication of the descriptive eaption of this Ordinance together with
the penalty provieion as an alternative method or publication as provided by law.
SECTION 5o The fact that public necessity and co~enience requires
that this Ordinance be passed as an emergency measure for reasons set forth in
the preamble hereof, the rule requiring that no Ordinance shall be final~
passed on the day or its introduction be suspended, and this Ordinance is de-
clared to be an emergency measure to take et:f'ect for and atter its passage.
