~·y -...J l AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE ALTERING AND CHANGING OF TRE PRIMA FACIE
SPEED LIMIT FROM 40 MILES PER HOUR TO 45 MILES PER HOUR ON THAT PORTION
OF THE STREETS DESCRIBED AS FOU..OWS:
On the South side of Parkway Drive (u.s. 82) beginning 0.20
miles :East of Guava Avenue and extending :East 0.370 miles. This is for
East bound traffic only.

FOR PUBLICATION; AND DEClARING AN EMERGENCY; AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE
1lA TB OF THIS ORDINANCE.
WHEREAS, the governing body, as authorized by Article 827a, Sec. 8,
Vernon's Annotated Penal Code, finds. that certain prima facie speed limits on
certain highways are different from what is reasonable or safe and should be
altered and the~diat• preservation of' public health and safety requires im-
~ediate alteration of said prima facie speed limits as hereafter set forth, ·· ·
which creates an emergency; NCM THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CIT! OF LUBBOCK:
_ SECTION 1. The prima facie speed limit established by Article 827a,
Sec. 8, Subsection 1 (b)g Vernon's Annotated Penal Code is altered and changed
for all vehicles to 45 miles per hour on the following designated highways
or street in the corporate limits of the City of Lubbock, Lubbock County,
Texas , to-wit:
On the South aide of Parkway Drive (U.S. 82) beginning 0.20
miles East of Guava Avenue and extending East 0.370 miles. This is for
East bound traffic on~.
SECTION 2o The City Manager is authorized and directed to cause the
placing of signs so as to clearly define the limits of the prima facie areas
set out in this Ordinance.
SECTION 3. An person, firm or corporation violating the prima facie
speed limit established b,y this Ordinance shall upon conviction be fined in
any sum not. tosreeed TWO HUNDRED DOLlARS ($200o00) and for subsequent viola ..
tions within one year thereafter shall be prosecuted as prescribed for such
violations by Sec., 15 of Article S27a, Vernon's Annotated Penal Code.
SECTION 4. The City Secretary is authorized and directed to cause
the publication or the descriptive eaption of this Ordinance together with
the penalty provieion as an alternative method of publication as provided by law.
SECTION 5o The fact that public necessity and co~enience requires
that this Ordinance be passed as an emergency measure for reasons set forth in
the preamble hereof, the rule requiring that no Ordinance shall be finally
passed on the day of its introduction be suspended, and this Ordinance is de-
clared to be an emergency measure to take effect for and after its passage.
