OF THE STREE'l'S DFSCRIBED AS FOLUMS:
On the North side of :east 50th Street beginning 0.20 miles from the old
Slaton Highway and extending East for 0.20 miles. This is for West

M TE OF THIS ORDINANCE.
~S, the governing body, as authorized by Article S27a, Sec. a,
Vernon's Annotated Penal Code, finds that certain prima facie speed limits on
certain highways are different from what is reasonable or safe and should be
altered and the iiunediat• preservation of public health and safety requires im-
mediate alteration of said prima facie speed limits as hereafter set forth, -·
which creates an emergency; NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
_ SECTION 1. The prima facie speed limit established by Article 827a,
Sec. 8, Subsection 1 (b), Vernon's Annotated Penal Code is altered and changed
for all vehicles to 55 miles per hour on the following designated highways
or street in the corporate limits of the City of 'Lubbock, Lubbock County,
Texas, to-wit:
On the North side of East 5oth Street beginning 0. 20 miles from the old
Slaton Highway and extending East for 0.20 miles. This is for West
bound traffic onlv. SECTION 2. The City Manager is authorized and directed to cause the
placing of signs so as to clearly define the limits of the prima facie areas
set out in this Ordinance.
SECTION 3. An person, firm or corporation violating the prima facie
speed limit established by this Ordinance shall upon conviction be fined in
any sum not to ereeed TWO HUNDRED DOLlARS ( $200 6 00) and for subsequent viola ..
tions within one year thereafter shall be prosecuted as prescribed for such
violations by Sec. 15 of Article 827a, Vernon's Annotated Penal Code.
SECTION 4. The City Secretary is authorized and directed to cause
the publication of the descriptive eaption of this Ordinance together with
the penalty provieion as an alternative method of publication a~ provided by law.
SECTION 5. The fact that public necessity and co~enience requires
that this Ordinance be passed as an emergency measure for reasons set forth in
the preamble hereof, the rule requiring that no Ordinance shall be final~
passed on the day of its introduction be suspended, and this Ordinance is de-
clared to be an emergency measure to take effect for and after its passage.
