On the East side of State FM Highway S35 beginning 0.394 miles North
of the intersection of 50th Street ~nd extending North for 0.40 miles.

~s, the governing body, as authorized by Article 827a, Sec. 8,
Vernon's Annotated Penal Code, finds that certain prima facie speed limits on
certain highways are different from what is reasonable or safe and should be
altered and the iilmediat• preservation of public health and safety requires im-
~ediate alteration of said prima facie speed limits as hereafter set forth, ·
which creates an emergency; NOW' THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDA.INED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
.. SECTION 1. The prima facie speed li~t established by Article e27a,
See. 8, Subsection 1 (b), Vernon's Annotated Penal Code is altered and changed
for all vehicles to 50 miles per hour on the following designated highways
or street in the corporate limits of the City of Lubbock, Lubbock County,
Texas, to-wit:
On the East side of State FM Highway S35 beginning 0.394 miles North
of the intersection of 50th Street and extending North for 0.40 miles.
SECTION 2. The City Manager is authorized and directed to cause the
placing of signs so as to clearly define the limits of the prima facie areas
set out in this Ordinance.
SECTION 3. An person~ firm or corporation violating the prima facie
speed limit established Qy this Ordinance shall upon conviction be fined in
any sum not. toeceeed TWO HUNDRED DOLlARS ($200o00) and for subsequent viola ..
tions within one year thereafter shall be prosecuted as prescribed for such
violations by Sec. 15 of Article 827a-VernonYs Annotated Penal Code.
SECTION 4. The City Secretary is authorized and directed to cause
the publication or the descriptive eaption of this Ordinance together with
the penalty provieion as an alternative method of publication as provided by law.
SECTION 5. The fact that public necessity and conYenience requires
that this Ordinance be passed as an emergency measure for reasons set forth in
the preamble hereof, the rule requiring that no Ordinance shall be final~
passed on the day of its introduction be suspended, and this Ordinance is de-
clared to be an emergency measure to take effect for and after its passage.
AND IT IS SO ORDERED.
