AN ORDINANCE DESIGNATING A 'PORTION OF 14TH STREET FROM AV -
NUE Q TO PARIS AVENUE AS A ONE-WAY STREET AND PERMITTING ONLY
VEinCULAR TRAFFIC PROCEEDING EAST ON SAID PORTION OF STREET;
PROVIDING FOR SIGNS TO INDICATE THA.T SAID PORTION OF STREET IS ON
WAY; PROVIDING FOR PUBLIC:AT.IQN;_,; PRESCRIBING A PENALTYJ AND
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AND THE EFFECTIVE DATE OF THIS ORDINAN
WHEREAS, the City Commission finds that for the immediate preservatio
of public peace, property, health and safety requires that vehicular traffic on
14th Stt'eet from Avenue Q to Paris Avenue should be permitted to proceed in a
Easterly direction only as more particularly hereinafter described; and,
WHEREAS, the enactment of this Ordinance is necessary to preserve the
public peace, property, health and safety of the people of the City of Lubbock
creates an emergency; NOW THEREFORE:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COM1YfiSSlON OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. THAT portion of 14th Street in the City of Lubbock, Lubbock
County, Texas, from Avenue Q to Paris Aveme is hereby designated a OQ.e•way
street and only vehicular traffic proceeding East on 14th street beginning at its
intersection with Avenue Q to its intersection with Paris Avenue shall be permitte
thereon.,
SECTION z.. The traffic engineer is hereby authorized and directed to
place or cause to be placed the necessary traffic signs to indicate that the portion
of 14th Street described in Section 1 hereof is a one-way street.
SECTION 3. The City Secretary is hereby authorized and directed to caus
the publication of this ordinance once a week for two consecutive weeks in a news
paper regularly published in the City of Lubbock, Texas.
SECTION 4. Any person operating a vehicle in violation of the provisions
1 of this Ordinance shall upon a:nviction by fined in any sum not to exceed $200.00.

SECTION s. The fact that an emergency exists as described in the preP.tn le
hereof, this Ordinance is hereby declared to be ai?fi\~'tltW'and the rule requiri~g
two readings of an Ordinance before final passage is hereby suspended, and this
Ordinance shall become effective on and after July 30, 1959.
