HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance - 2544-1958 - Annexing An Area And Tracts Of Land, Adjacent To The Existing City Limits - 08.02.1958r-11-If -of ORDINANCE NO. 2544 09 - 11 - 19 5g AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING AN AREA AND TRACT?8F1!NDd' W?&H AREA ABUTS AND IS ADJACENT TO THE EXISTING CITY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCE,, TEXAS, AND WHICH AREA LIES SOUTH AID EAST OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK BOUNDARIES OF THE SOUTHEAST PART OF THE CITE, SAID AREA BEING INCLUDED WITHIN THE METES AND BOUNDS DESCRIPTION' SET OUT IN THE BODY OF THIS ORDINANCE; PROVIDING FOR THE EXTEN- SION OF THE CITY LIMITS AND CORPORATE BOUNDARIES TO ANNEX ALL OF THE AREA INCLUDED WITHIN SAID METES AND BOUNDS DESCRIPTION, WHICH HAS NOT HERETOFORE BEEN ANNEXED; PROVIDING FOR NO WAIVER, RELINQUISHMENT OR ABANDONMENT OF THAT ASSERTION OF AUTHORITY AND JURISDICTION MADE BY VIRTUE OF ORDINANCE NO. 2534 AS PASSED ON FIRST READING ON THE 24TH DAY OF JULY, 1958; PROVIDING THE PUBLICATION AND FINAL PASSAGE OF THIS ORDINANCE (UNDER THE PRO- VISIONS OF SECTION 3-A, ARTICLE 1, CHAPTER l OF THE CHARTER OF T CITY OF LUBBOCK. WHEREAS, the City Commission finds that within the area hereinafter described, there is an area of land lying South and East of the existing City Limits which is in line of development, growth and expansion being experienced by the City of Lubbock, that the annexation thereof has been requested, and the Commis- sion finds further that annexation of all of said area, not heretofore annexed, and lying within the boundaries of the entire area described by metes and bounds in the body of this Ordinance, will be in the best interest of the public, public health, morals, safety and general welfare, and the Commission is authorized to annex the same under the Charter provisions of the City of Lubbock; NOW THEREFORE, ii BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION THAT all that are d ON 1 HA h a of land contained within the following described tract and area of land, and which area contained therein has not heretofore been annexed to and brought within the corporate limits of the City of Lubbock, and which area contained therein, considered as one tract of land, abuts and is adjacent to the existing corporate limits of the City of Lubbock in ��; Lubbock County, Texas, and included within the area described by metes and i bounds as follows, to -wit: BEGINNING at a point which is the Northwest corner of Survey 3, Block "O", Lubbock County, Texas, said point also being the Northeast corner of Survey 1, Block "O", and the "place of beginning" for the original boundaries of the City of Lubbock as described in The Charter of the City of Lubbock, Texas; 16 -"�'-- THENCE East along the North lines of Surveys 3, 4 and 5, Block "O" to a point in the present City Limits as described by City of Lubbock Ordinance No, 1595; THENCE continuing East along the North lines of Survey 5, Block "O" and Survey b, Block "O1l to a point 150 feet East of the Northwest corner of said Survey b; THENCE South parallel to and 154 feet East of the East lines of Survey 5, Block "O", Survey 2, Block "B"; and Survey 1, Block "B" (being approximately 154 feet East of the centerline -'� of a street to be known as Olive Avenue) to a point in the South line of Survey 11, Block "B"; .r THENCE continuing South 841 feet West of the East li-nes of Surveys 1 and 4, Block "S" to a point 50 feet Southwest of the centerline of the Panhandle and Santa Fe Railway Company's main line track as measured at right angles to said track; THENCE Southeasterly parallel to and 50 feet from said center- line to the North line of Survey 12, Block ITS"; THENCE continuing Southeasterly 2902 feet, more or less, as measured on the line parallel to and 50 feet from said Railway centerline; THENCE South 33024' West a distance of 500 feet; THENCE North 5700' West a distance of 4055 feet, more or less, -to a point 150 feet South of the Northwest corner of Survey 12, Block "S"; THENCE West parallel to and 150 feet South of the South lines of Surveys 4 and 3, Block 'IS" (being approximately 150 feet South of the centerline of a street to be known as 82nd Street) to a point in the West line of Survey 6, Block "S"; THENCE continuing West across Survey 23, Block "R'O to a point in the East line of Survey 7, Block "E", said point being 150 feet South of the South line of Survey 6, Block "E"; THENCE continuing West parallel to and 150 feet South of the South line of Survey 6, Block "Ell to a point in the West line of Survey 7, Block "E"; THENCE North along the West lines of Surveys 7 and 6, Block "E" to a point in the present City Limits as described by City of Lubbock Ordinance No. 1949, said point being at the North- west corner of Survey 6, Block "E" and the Southwest corner of Survey 1, Block "E"; THENCE continuing North along the West lines of Survey 1, Block "E" and Survey 6, Block "B" and Survey 5, Block "B" and Survey 3, Block T'O" to the Northwest corner of said Survey 3, the same being the point of beginning, all in Lubbock County, Texas, E and the same is hereby annexed to and included within the corporate limits f the City of Lubbock. SECTION 2. This Ordinance shall not be construed in any way as a Liver, relinquishment or abandonment of the assertion of authority and juris- ction made by the City of Lubbock by virtue of passage on first reading on the th day of July, 1958, Ordinance No. 2534; that this ordinance shall in all ways construed as a reaffirmation and continuance of said assertion of authority d jurisdiction as to that area and tract of land included within the metes and unds description contained in said Ordinance No. 2534 as is also included within metes and bounds description herein contained in Section 1 hereof. R yr SECTION 3. This Ordinance shall be forthwith published in a daily news- paper published in the City of Lubbock, Texas, one (1) time and shall not be thereafter finally acted upon until at least thirty (30) days have elapsed after such publication, and if finally passed in its present form the boundary limits of the City of Lubbock shall thereby be fixed to include the area, territory and extension described in Section 1 of this Ordinance (which contained area has not heretofore been annexed, containing approximately 6 3359 acres lying between the present City Limits and the new boundary established by this Ordinance), and the corporate boundaries of the City are hereby extended in accordance therewith.
