HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance - 2480-1958 - Abandoning And Closing A Portion Of A Street Which Was Never Opened - 05/22/1958II os-c;<~~.958 ORDINANCE NO. 2&_80 OCo-I~ -1..9S<Q AN ORDINANCE ABANDONING AND CLOSING A PORTION OF A STREET WI-nCH WAS NEVER OPENED LYING SOUTH OF 8TH STREET BETWEEN ZENITH A VENUE AND BEECH AVENUE AS MORE PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED IN THE BODY OF THIS ORDINANCE; AND DIRECTING THE CITY ENGINEER TO MARK THE OFFICIAL MAP OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK TO INDICATE THE CLOSING AND ABANDONMENT OF SAID PORTION OF SUCH STREET AS AFORESAID • . WHEREAS, the City Commission finds that a portion of a street which was never opened lying South of 8th Street between Zenith Avenue and Beech Avenue, as hereinafter more particularly described is no longer needed for street purposes or for public use; and, WHEREAS, the City Commission finds it would be to the public interest to close, vacate and abandon same for street purposes and to public use; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION 1. THAT a portion of a street which was never opened lying South of 8th Street between Zenith Avenue and Beech Avenue, as hereinafter described, shall BE and the same is hereby closed, vacated and abandoned for street p·urposes and for public use; said tract of land being particularly described as follows, to-wit: BEGINNING at a point which is the Southwest corner of Tract 45 of the Brown Subdivision, an addition to the City of Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas, said point being 41.8 feet South of the Northwest corner of Lot 15, Block 8, C. D. Elliston Addition, aRe-Sub- division of a portion of Brown Subdivision; THENCE East parallel to the North line of Block 8, C. D. Elliston Addition a distance of 765 feet, more or less, to a point in the East line of Lot 1 of said Block 8; THENCE South along the East line of Lot 1 a distance of 30 feet; THENCE West 765 feet to a point in the West line of Lot 15 of said Block 8; THENCE North 30 feet to the POINT OF BEGINNING. SECTION 2. THAT the City Engineer is hereby authorized and directed to mark the official map of the City of Lubbock to indicate that the portion of street as described in Section 1 hereof, has been closed and abandoned, show- ing the number of this Ordinance and the date of its final passage. AND IT IS SO ORDERED.
