AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR SALARY OVERTIME SUPPLE-
MENT FOR CITY EMPLOYEES; PROVIDING FOR ELIGIBILITY; NATURE
AND COMPENSATION TO BE PAID FOR SUCH SERVICES; PROVIDING
FOR SUSPENSION OR REVOCATION OF SUCH PAYMENTS; AND DECLARING
AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, the City Commission deems it to be in the public interest
that the sale of electricity produced by the City Power Plant be increased at
the earliest pos sible date to provide additional out-lets for its recently increased
capacity to produce electricity, creates an emergency; NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. Until this authority is suspended or revoked by the City
Manager or City Commission, and subject to the regulations hereinafter
provided for, any City of Lubbock employee who in his off-duty hours shall
solicit and secure new electric accounts fot: electrical service reterred to
and commonly known as Municipal Power and Light, shall receive compensa-
tion for such over-time service to be paid at the following rates:
For each new residential account secured $ s. 00
For each new commercial or industrial account secured 10.00
For each five (5) accounts secured in any one calendar month 10.00
This salary over-time supplement may be referred to and designated as SOS,
and shall be paid on the first pay period following the second billing of the new
account.
SECTION z. Utility sales personnel will not be eligible for SOS, and
the City Manager shall promulgate such rules and regulations and exclude such
additional employees from eligibility for SOS, as in his judgment will promote
the public interest.
SECTION 3. SOS shall be paid out of the freal!-rk. Revenue Fund,
and$ i,OOO.OO Dollars is hereby appropriated out of said fund for such
purpose.
SECTION 4. Due to the fact that this Ordinance deals with the daily
operation of a City department and provides for the appropriation of funds,
all rules requiring the passage of an ordinance by more than one reading are
hereby suspended and this Ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure;
and the same shall become effective on the date of its passage.
