HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance - 2294-1957 - Prohibiting Vehicular Parking At The Locations Hereinafter Body Of Ordinance. - 08/22/1957. ) oco-~;;l-l95~ ORDINANCE NO. 2294 ----- AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING VEHICULAR PARKING AT THE LOCA- TIONS HEREINAFTER DESCRIBED IN THE BODY OF THIS ORDINANCEi PRESCRIBING A PENALTY; DEClARING AN EMERGENCY AND PROVIDING FOR THE PUBLICATION AND EFFECTIVE DAT£ OF THIS ORDINANCE • WHEREAS, the City Commission finds that d~e to changed and hazardous traffic conditions immediately imperiling the lives and safety of the citizens of the City of Lubbock, Texas, that it would be to the public interest, safety and welfare to prohibit vehicular parking at the locations hereinafter described in the body of this Ordi nance; and, WHEREAS, the City Commission finds that such changed hazardous conditions and the immediate public necessity and safety require that this Ordinance be passed as an emergency measure; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION 1. THAT the parking of v ehicles is hereby prohibited between the hours of Z:OO A. M. to 7:00 P. M. at the following designated locations: (A) Along the West curb or curb lines of Avenue T from Fourth Street to 34th Street. {B) Along the East curb or curb lines of AvenueS from 34th Street to Main Street. (C) Along the West curb or curb lines of Avenue L from 19th Street to 34th Street. (D) Along the East curb or curb lines of A venue L from 34th Street to 28th Street. {E) Along the East curb or curb lines of Avenue K from 28th Street to 19th Street. (F) Along the Sol:th-curb or curb lines of 9th Street from Avenue K to Avenue M. PROVIDED,. HOWEVER, that these provisions shall not apply to recessed parking areas. SECTION 2.. Any person, firm or corporation violating this Ordinance shall upon conviction be fined in any sum not to exceed $200.00. SECTION 3. THAT due to changed traffic conditions, the public necessity and safety require that this Ordinance be passed as an emergency measure and t h e rule requiring that ordinances be passed by two readings is hereby suspended. SECTION 4. The City Secretary is hereby authorized and directed to publish this Ordinance once a week for two con&ecutive weeks in a newspaper regularly published in the City .of Lubbock, and this Ordinance shall become effective ten (10) days after its last publication.
