AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 1695 OF THE CITY OF
LUBBOC~ SAID ORDINANCE BEING AN APPENDIX TO T~-LUBBOCK
..
CITY CODE OF 1955, BY AMENDING SUBDIVISION 6.1-5 THEREOF SO AS TO
FURTHER REGULATE THE PER.MISSIVE USE OF TOOL HOUSES AND/OR
CONSTRUCTION SHEDS TO BE USED FOR CONSTRUCTION PURPOSES ONLY
AND FIELD OFFICES FOR THE SALE 0;' REAL ESTATE; PRESCRIBING A
PENALTY; AND PROVIDING FOR. PUBLICATION AND EFFECTIVE DATE OF
TffiS ORDINANCE.
WHEREAS, the City Commission has referred the matter of amending
Ordinance No. 1695 so ae to further regulate the permissive use of tool
houses and/or construction sheds to be used for construction purposes only and
field offices for the sale of real estate to the Planning and Zoning Commission
for its .zecommendation and report~ and the Planning and Zoning Commission
has recommended that Zoning Ordinance No. 1695 be amended as hereinafter set
forthJ and,
WHEREAS, the City Commission has received the recommendation of the
Planning and Zoning Commission and finds it would be to the public interest,
safety,. health, and general welfare that Zoning Ordinance No. 1695 be amended
as hereinafter set forth;. NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. THAT subdivision 6.1-5 of Ordinance No. 1695, said ordinance
being an appendix to the Lubbock City Code of 1955t be amended to read hereafter
as follows:
Subdivision 6.1-5:
"Tool house and/ or construction shed to be used for construction
purposes only, and field offices for the sale of real estate. such
uaea to be considered as a temporary permissive license only.,
and provided>. further.,. that the Building Inspector is hereby
authorized to revoke such license and order the removal of such
tool house and/ or construction shed, and/ or field office for the sale
of real estate at any time alter ten days written notice to the
perao~ firm or corporation owning, using, operating out of., or
possessing or having an interest in such tool house and/ or
construction shed, and/ or field office for the sale of real estate.
Failure of any person,, firm or corporation to remove such tool I house and/or construction shecJ. and/or field office for the sale of
real estate after said notice and order for removal is received
from the Building Inspector by such perso~ firm or corporation
shall constitute a violation of this Ordinance. 11
SECTION z. Any person, firm. or corporation violating any provision
of this ordinance shall upon conviction be fined in any swn not to exceed

TWO HUNDRED AND N0/100 .($2.00. 00) DOLLARS.
SECTION 3. THAT the City Secretary is hereby authorizeP. and directe
to publish this ordinance once a week for two consecutive weeks in a newspaper
' regularly published in the City of Lubboc~ and this ordinance shall become
effective as an amendment to ordinance No. 1695_. said ordinance being an
appendix to the Lubbock City Code, ten {10} days after its last publication.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Planning and Zoning Coonission of the
City of Lubbock, Texas, has reconmended that Ordinance No. 1695, being
an appendix to the Code of the City of Lubbock, be amended so that:
Subdivision 6.1-5 be amended to read hereafter as follows:
"Tool house an.d/or construction shed to be used for construction
purposes only., and field offices for the sale of real estate,
such uses to be considered as a temporary permissive license
only, and provided, further, that the Building Inspector is
hereby authorized to revoke such license and order the removal
of such tool house and/or construction shed, and/or field office
for the sale of real estate at any time after ten days written
notice to the persGn, fi:nn or corporation owning, using, operating
out of, or possessing or having an interest in such tool house

Subdivision 17.4-3 be amended to read hereafter as follows:
"Any exterior sign displa;yed shall pertain only to a use conducted
within a building and shall be attached to the wall of the build-
ing or to a support no closer to the fronting street than the
building line. 'lhe bottom of the sign, in any case, shall not
be less than 8 feet above the sidewalk elevation. Signs attached
to supports shall not extend more than 21 feet above the sidelvalk
elevation. Signs attached to a building shall not project more
than 9 feet above the ceiling line, nor 5 feet above the parapet
of the building_, whichever is less. Signs, in any case, shall
not extend toward the fronting street more than 6 feet. All signs
with lights shall be so shielded to eli.m:inate annoyance to resi-
dential areas."
The City Commission will hold a public hearing on March 14
