AS -A PART OF THE OFFICIAL CODIFICATION OF ORDINANCES OF THE
CITY OF LUBBOCK; REPEALING ALL CONFLICTING ORDINANCES TO THE
EXTENT CF ·SUCH CONFLICT: DE~G AN EMERGENCY AND PROVIDING
FOR IMMEDIATE EFFECTIVENESS OF THIS ORDINANCE.
WHEREAS,., the City Commission of the City of Lubbock has heretofore
enacted Ordinance No. 1803 adopting a revision and codification of the ordinances
of the City of Lubbock, Texas, including penal OJ.'dinance and other ordinances
of a general and permanent nature which were in effect on June 15, 1955, and
which codification ordinance became effective on December 31, 1955~ and,
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Lubbock has heretofore
eaacted Ordinance No. 1837 adopting the "Amendments and Supplement to the
Lubbock City Code, 1955," which constituted a further codification of the
ordinances o£ the City of Lubbock including penaL ordinances and other ordinances
of a general and permanent nature which had been enacted from the period of ..
June 15, ·1955, to December 31, 1955 and which amending and supplementing
ordinance became effective on February 14, 1956, and
WHEREAS. certain penal ordinances and ordinances of a general and
permanent nature have been enacted during the period from January 1, 1956~ to
March 31, 1957, inclusive, and the City Com.n1ission deems it expedient and in
the public interest that the official codification of ordinances shall be amended
and supplemented to include such penal ordim. nces and general ordinances enacted
from January lt 1956~ to March 31, 1957, inclusive, NOW THEREFORE,. ·
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. THAT the ordinances of the City of Lubbock, Texas, of a
general and permanent nature which have been enacted during the period from
January 1, 1956, to March 31, 1957, inclusive, as codified and denominated
11Amendments and Supplement No. 2. to the Lubbock City Code, 1955u a copy of
which is attached hereto and hereby made a part hereof, are hereby constituted
as a part of the official codification of the ordinances of the City of Lubbock.
SECTION 2.. THAT t~s ordinance shall in no wise affect the operation
and effectiveness of Ordinance No. 1803) or the "Code of the City of Lubbock,
Texas, 1955tt adopted thereby; or ordinance no. 1837 or the $ HAm.endments
and Supplement to the Lubbock City Code, 1955" adopted thereby other than to
amend and supplement such original code as amend~d and supplemented by
Ordinance 1837 to the end that such original code as amended and supplemented
by said "Amendments and Supplement to the Lubbock City Code, 1955u and as
amended and supplemented by "Amendments and Supplement No. 2. to the Lubbock
City Code, 1955u shall constitute the official codification of penal ordinances and
ordinances of a general and permanent nature to ~d including March 31, 1957.

SECTION 3. THAT a copy of "Amendments and Supplement No. 2 to
the Code of the City of Lubbock, 1955"., shall be filed in the office of the
City Secretary-Treasurer of, the City of Lubbock.
SECTION 4. THAT all ordinances or pai'ts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict only.
SECTION 5. THAT the necessity for the publication of the "Amendments
and Supplement No. 2 to the Lubbock Cfty Code, 1955'"~ so that the officht.l codifi ..
cation and pu}>lication of penal ordinances and ordinances of a general and
permanent nature of the City of Lubbock, may, at the earliest possible date,
be complete through March 31, 1957, and the need for early distribution thereof
among the citizens of the City of Lubbock, and especially among the Depart-
ment Heads~ and other officer• and employees of the City of Lubbock for
the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, and safety, the same
substantially providing ior the usual daily operation of the City regulations
and departments, create an imperative public necessity and emergency and
requires that this ordinance shall take effect immediately from and after
its passage as an emergency measure.
