AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 1695 OF THE CITY OF LUBBOC~ SAID ORDINANCE BEING AN APPENDIX TO THE LUBBOCK CITY COD~ BY AMENDING SU})DIVISION 17.4-3 SO AS TO REVISE THE REGULA- TIONS FOR SIGNS PERMITTED IN A C-2 ZONING DISTRICT; PRESCRIBING- A PENALTY; AND PROVIDING FOR THE PUBLICATION AND EFFECTIVE DAT&OF THIS ORDINANCE. WHERE~ the City Commission has referred the matter of amending Ordinance No. 1695 so as to revise the regulations as regards .tp Si.gn.S.!>perm.itte in a C-2 zoning district, and the Plaiuting and Zoning Commission has recom- mended that zoning ordinance No. 1695 be amended as. hereinafter set forth; an~. WHEREAS, the City Commission has received the reconune.qdations of the Planning and Zoning Commission and finds that it would be to the public interest~ safety, and health, and general welfare that zoning ordinance No. 1695 ·.t,\ amended as hereinaft~r set £orthJ NOW THEREFORE1 BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSlON OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK SEC~ON 1. THAT subdivision 17.4-3 o£ ordinance No. 1695:. said ordinance being an appendix to the Lubbock City Code of 1955, be amended to read hereafter as follows: Subdivision 17. 4-3: 11Any exterior sign displayed shall pertain only to a use conducted within a building and. shall be attached to the wall of the build- ing or to a support no closer to the fronting street than the building line. The bottom of the sig~ in any case~ shall not be less than 8 feet above the sidewalk elevation. Signs attached to supports shall not extend more than Z1 feet above the sidewalk elevation. Signs attached to a building shall not project more than 9 feet above the ceiling line,_ nor 5 feet above the parapet of the building,_ whichever is less. Signs., in any case,. shall not extend toward the fronting street more than 6 feet. All signs with lights shall be so shielded to eliminate annoyance to resi- dential areas. 11 SECTION 2. Any person., firm. or corporation violating any provision of this ordinance shall upon conviction be-fined in any sum not to exceed TWO HUNDRED AND N0/100 ($ZOO. 00) DOLLARS.; SECTION 3. THAT the City Secretary is hereby authorized and directed to publish this ordinance once a week for two consecutive weeks in a newspaper regularly published in the City of Lubbock, and this ordinance shall become ~··I \ •' J effective as an amendment to ordinance No. 1695, said ordinance being an appendix to the Lubbock City Code, ten (10} days after its last publication.
