AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER l OF THE LUBBOCK CITY CODE BY AMENDING SECTIONS 2-72 AND 2-73 OF ARTICLE VIII. SO AS TO PROVIDE FOR FIFTEEN ( 15) VOTING MEMBERS OF THE URBAN RENEWAL BOARD OF THE OITY OF LUBBOCK; AND PRESCRIBING THE EFFECTIVE DATE OF THlS ORDINANCE. WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Lubbock finds it would be to the public interest, safety, he.alth and general weJar e to add one more voting member to said Urban Renewal Board to make a total of fifteen (15) voting members of said Urban Renewal Boardj NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION 1. THAT Chapter 2 of the Lubbock City Code as amended by Ordinance No. 2089 BE and the same is hereby amended by amending Sections 1.•72. and Z-73 of Article VIII. of said Chapter 2 to read hereafter as follows: ) "Article Vlll. Urban Renewal Board Sec. 2.-72. Creation and Composition of the Board.· Ther~ is hereby created an Urban Renewal Board to be composed of twenty-one (21) members, fifteen (15) of whom shall be residents in, and real property owners of the City, and said fifteen (15} members shall be the voting members of the Urban Renewal Board. At least one (1) voting member of the Urban Renewal Board who is appointed shall be a member or representative of each of the following community groups, boards, organizations~ institutions and/ or associations in the City: A Savings and Loan Association, Real Estate Board, School Board, Bar Association, Lubbock Minister's Association, Tuberculosis Association, League of Women Voters, Lubbock Home Builders• Associ• ation, Community Planning Council, Guadalupe Urban Renewal Co~mittee, Texas Technological College, and a newspaper published in the City. The other six (6) members of the Board shall be ex officio members of the Urban Renewal Board, acting 'in an advisory capacity without the power to vote. One (1) of each said ex officio members shall be appointed by the City Commission from each of the following departments of the City of Lubbock: Director of Planning and Tr~ffic, Legal Department, Health Department, Fire Department, Building Inspector; the sixth ex officio member shall be the Director of Building and Planning of the Lubbock Public Schools. All of said ex officio members shall serve at the will of the City Commission. Sec. 2-73. Appointment and Terms of Members. The fifteen ( 15) voting members of the Urban Renewal Board shall be appointed by the City Commission. Five (5) of such members shall be appointed for a term of two (2.) years, five {S) for a term of three (3) years, and Hve (5) for a term of four (4) yearsi the length of term of each such appointees shall be decided by a drawing of lots by said appointees. They shall serve for their respective terms or until their successors shall have been appointed. At the expiration of the terms as above outlined, the appointment of voting. members of the ( (- Board shall be m~de on the basis of four-year terms. 11 SECTION z.
