HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 2024-R0065 - Downtown Grant Program Façade Exp, Hugo Reed & Associates, Inc., 1602 Avenue N - 02/13/2024Resolution No. 2024-R0065 Item 5.8 February 13, 2024 RESOLUTION WHEREAS, pursuant to Article IV, Section 5 of the Amended and Restated Bylaws of the Market Lubbock Economic Development Corporation (the "Corporation"), the City Council of the City of Lubbock (the "City Council"), as the Corporation's authorizing unit, has the authority to approve all programs and expenditures of the Corporation; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds that it is in the best interest of the public to approve the program or expenditure, as proposed to the City Council by the Corporation, as set forth in Exhibit "A" attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference; NOW THEREFORE: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: THAT the Downtown Pa�ade Grant program or expenditure of the Corporation, in the amount set forth in Exhibit "A" attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference, to be provided to Hugo Reed and Associates, Inc., is hereby approved pursuant to Section 5 of the Amended and Restated Bylaws of the Corporation. AT 1602 AVENUE N- DOWNTOWN FACADE GRANT THE STATE OF TEXAS COUNTY OF LUBBOCK At a regular meeting of the Board of Directors of MARKET LUBBOCK ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION, INC., a Texas nonprofit corporation (MLI), on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, held in conformity with the bylaws, after due notice as therein provided, a quorum being present and acting, the following resolution was unanimously adopted: WNEREAS, MLI presented to members of the Board the proposal of a possible Economic Development Grant and Contract to Hugo Reed & Associates, Inc. at 1602 Avenue N and they are making improvements to the exterior of their property, which is located in the Downtown TIF. Celebrating 75 years, Hugo Reed and Associates was founded in 1948 as a land surveying firm, aad since then has operated continuously in the Lubbock region. The firm evolved in 1978 to incorporate civil engineering services. HRA is now the largest frm in the region offering professional land surveying, civil engineering, and land planning services. The scope of work will include the replacement of an awning totaling $10,116 in expenses. The terms and conditions of such Economic Development Grant and Contract, other than the normal terms and conditions applicable to all such Economic Development Grant and Contracts by the Corporation, are described generally as follows, to wit: Grant Hugo Reed & Associates, lnc. a Downtown Facade Grant for $5,058 at 1602 Avenue N, which is in the Downtown TIF, once proof of payment has been submitted. WHEREAS, The Board of Directors of MLI finds that an Economic Development Grant and Contract offering the incentive for providing assistance for renovations to their property, meet and comply with the qualifications and purposes of the Corporation for the granting of such Economic Development Grants and Contracts. Upon Motion by Director, Mr. Sonny Garza, and Seconded by Director, Mr. Brett Cate. IT WAS RESOLVED that MLI offer and, if accepted by Recipient, enter into an Economic Grant and Contract with Hugo Reed & Associates, Inc. for improvements to the properly at 1602 Avenue N, Lubbock, Texas.
