AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING BUILDING LINES ON THE EAST AND
WEST SIDE OF THE SLIDE ROAD FROM THE BROWNFIELD HIGHWAY SOUTH
TO THE SOUTH CITY LIMITS LINE, AS MORE PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED
BY METES AND BOUNDS IN THE BODY OF THIS ORDINANCE; PROVIDING
THAT NO BUILDING OR OTHER STRUCTURE SHALL HEREAFTER BE ERECTE ,
RE·ERECTED, OR SUBSTANTIALLY REPAIRED BETWEEN SUCH BUILDING
LINES; REQUIRING EXISTING STRUCTURES ON OR BETWEEN THE BUILDING
LINES HEREIN ESTABLISHED TO CONFORM TO SUCH BUILDING LINES
WITHIN FIVE (5) YEARS; DEFINING "BUILDING LINE" AND PROVIDING THAT
SETBACK REQUIREMENTS UNDER THE CITY1S ZONING ORDINANCE AND
AMENDMENTS THERETO BE DETERMINED FROM THE BUILDING LINES
HEREIN ESTABLISHED; PROVIDING EXCEPTIONS FOR UTILITY EXTENSIONS1·
AND PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE.
WHEREAS, Article 1105a, Revised Civil Statutes of Texas provides for
the establishment of building lines on any part o.r side of any street in the City·
of Lubbock, said City of Lubbock having a population of more than 15, 000; and,
WHEREAS, the City Commission finds that public convenience, safety,
and necessity in the City of Lubbock requires that building lines or right-of-way
lines be established on the East and West Side of the Slide Road from the
Brownfield Highway South to the South City Limits Line to prevent repair and
replacement of structures and trees in the area between the building lines so
established, such areas being required in connection with the widening, opening•,
and improving that part of Slide Road described more particularly hereinafter
in the body of this Ordinance; and,
WHEREAS, the widening and the ~mprovement of said Slide Road and the
establishment of such bull<ling lines are necessary and will ultimately provide
streets of derira'"ble and adequate width which will aid in relieving heavy traffic
in congested areas in accordance with the City's comprehensive plan and the City
Planning Commission has recommended such plan. The City Commission fdrther
finds that such establislunent at this time will promote economy; NOW
THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. THAT a building line is hereby established on the East
and West side of the Slide Road from the Brownfield Highway South to the • South Cit.y Limits Line and. within the corporate boundaries of the City of Lubbock, .

BEGINNIN9 at a point in the Southeast right-of-way line of the
Brownfield Highway, said point being 60. 0 feet West and 140. 0 feet
more or less, North of the Southeast corner of Section 5,

THENCE South parallel to and 60. 0 feet West of the East line
of Section 5, Block E 2., a distance of 140. 0 feetf more or less,
to a point 60. 0 feet West of the Southeast corner of aforesaid
Section;

THENCE conti nuing South, with a line 60. 0 feet West of and parallel
to the East line of Section 6, .Block E 2., a distance of 2.670. 0 feet
to a point 90.0 feet West and 60.0 feet South of the Southeast corn'br
of Lot 11, Block 5, Evans Add.
TIUNCE continuing Southeast a distance of 600 feet to a point 45.0
feet West of the East line of Section 6, Block E 2i
THENCE South with a line 45 feet West of and parallel to the East
line of Section 6, Block E 2 and Section 2.8, Block E 2 a distance
of 2511.7 feet to a point in the South City Limit Line.
EASTSIDE
BEGINNING at a point in the Southeast right-of-way. line of the
Brownfield Highway, said point being the Northwest corner of
Lot 1, Block 1, Hillcrest Community Center Addition to the C ity
of Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas;
THENCE South along the We st side of Block 1, Hillcrest Community
Center Addition, said West side of aforementioned Addition being
30 feet East of the West line of Se ction 17-B, a distance of 205.3

feet to a point 30 feet East of the Southwest corner of said Secti on 17.-B;,
THENCE continuing .South, with a line, 30 feet East and parallel
to the West line of Section 18-B, a distance of 2.670. 0 feet to a point
30 feet East of the · .west :l.i.ne · of said Section 18-B;
THENCE continuing Southeast a distance of 600 feet to a point 45. 0
feet East of the West line of Section 18, Block B;
THENCE South with a line, 30 feet East of and parallel to the We st
line of Section 18, Block B and Section 9, B w ck E-2. a distance of
2.511. 7 feet to a point in the South City Limit Line.
SECTION 2. That no building or other structure shall hereafter be erected,
re-erected or substantially repaired and no new structure or parts thereof shall
be erected on that part of the street or land herein designated within said building
lines herein above described.
SECTION 3. That all structures on or between the building lines established
bY this O r dinance or extending in whole or in part within such building lines are
hereby required to conform to the new building lines established in Section 1 of
this Ordinance within five (5) years from the effective date of this Ordinance.
SECTION 4. The term 11 Building Line11 as herein used shall be construed to '
mean "street right-of-way line11, and the setback requireme nts under the City's
Zoning Ordinance and all amendments thereto shall apply in addition to the right-
of-way lines or building lines herein established, it being the intent

and purpose of this Ordinance to pr~serve all land within the building lines
herein established for ultimate street purposes.
SECTION 5. The provisions of this Ordinance shall not apply to any
officer,. agent, employee or other person duly authorized by the State of Texas
and/or the City of Lubbock when p,erforming any employment pursuant to the
widening, straightening or extension of the street and/ or right-of-way contem-
plated by this Ordinance, or authorized utility extensions within the right•of-way
herein described.
SECTION 6. If any section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase or
provision of this Ordinance shall be judged invalid or held unconstitutional, the
same shall not affect the validity of the remainder of this Ordinance as a whole
or any part or provision thereof other than the part so decided to be invalid or
unconstitutional.
