ORDINANCE NO. 1694
AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A NO-PARKING ZONE ON THE WEST SIDE OF
AVENUE M, BEGINNING AT 13TH STREET AND EXTENDING NORTH TO THE AILEY
EFFECTIVE FROM 7:00 A.M. UNTIL 9:00P.M. ON SUNDAYS; AUTHORIZING THE
PAINTING OF CURBS AND 'IRE ERECTION OF SIGNS; ProVIDING A PmALTY;
REPEALING CONFLICTING ORDINANCES; AUTHORIZING PUBLICATION OF THE DIS-
CRIPTIVE CAPTION AND DECLARING AN EMERGE!l;Y.
WHEREAS, in the interest of public safety, Changed traffic con-
ditions creating a public hazard require a No-Parking Zone to be
established on the West side of Avenue M and extending North to the
alley each Stmday from 7:00 A.M. until 9:00 PoM. NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COJ.MISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCKs
SECTION 1. That a No-Parking Zone BE, and it is hereby estab-
lished on the following described portion of Avenue M as hereinafter
described in Section 2 hereof, and i·t shall hereafter be unlawful
for any person operating, driving or in control of a vehicle to allow,
perlnit or suffer suoh vehicle to be parked in such zone between the
hours of 7:00 A.M. and 9:00 P.M. of each Sunday.
SECTION 2. That that portion of A,venue M referred to in Section
1 (One) of thie Ordinance as a No-Parking Zone is as follows:
On the West sid~ ot Avenue M beginning at the
intersection of Avenue M and 13th Street and
extending North to the alley.

SECTION 3. That the Traffic Engineer is hereby authorized and
directed to paint or cause to be painted the curbs and to erect signs
indicating a No-Parking Zone consistent with the provisions of this
Ordinance.
SECTION 4. That any person who shall suffer or permit any vehicle
"Operated, driven or controlled by him to be parked in the area described
in Section 2 (Two) of this ordinance shall upon conviction, be fined in
any sum not exceeding Tow Hundred Dollars ($200).
Sl!X:TION 5. That all portions of all other ordinances in conflict
with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
SECTION 6. That the City Secretary is authorized to cause pub-
lication of the descriptive caption of this ordinance, together with the
penalty clause 1 as an a1 terna tive method provided by law.
SECTION 7. That the enactment of this ordinance being necessary
to the public safety and to provide a greater use of the public streets
and, due to changed traffic conditions, is declared to be an emergency
measure, thereby oreating a public necessity that the rule requiring

proposed ordinances to be presented at two separate meetings be dis-
pensed with; and this ordinance shall be effective from the date of
pUblication, as herein provided.
