ORDINANCE NO~ 1693
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING S:OOTION 23 OF ORDINAJICE NO. 564 AS AMENDED BY
ORDINANCE N0.1414, TI:IEREBY CHANGING PARKING MF;TER NOS. H-10-13 AND
~-15 ON THE EAST SIDE OF AVENUE H IN THE 1000 BLOCK OF SAID STREET,
FROiL ONE-NICKEL, ONE-HOUR PARKING TO 12-MINUTES FOR ONE-PEtlNY, 24 MINUTES
FOR TWO-PENNIES; REPEALING ALL CONFLICTING ORDINA~ES; PROVIDING A PENALTY;
AOTHORIZIID PUBLICATION; AND DECLARING AN EME:RGE:tlrY.
WHEREAS, the City Commission has, ae a result of changed traffic con-
ditions, adopted the recommendation of the City Traffic Engineer to change
certain one-hour parking meters to 24-minute parking meters; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTIOI\ 1. That Section 2.3 of Ordinance No. 564 as amended by Ordin-
ance 1414 is hereby amended eo as to change and modify the le~th of the
parking time permitted on the East Side of Avenue H in the 1000 Block at
mater location Nos. H-10-13 and H-10-15, so as to prohibit parking for a
longer continuous period than 24 minute!.
SECTION 2. That the City Traffic Engineer is hereby authorized and
directed to install and place in operation twe~ve (12)-minute, one-penny,
twenty-four (24)-m.inute, two-pennies, parking meters at the following
location:
Parking meter location Nos. H-10-1.3 and H-10-15, on the
East Side of Avenue H in the 1000 Block.
SECTION 3. That that part of the provision of any ordinance or order
in conflict with this ordinance is hereby repealed.
SECTION 4. That any person, firm or corporation who shall violate,
aid or abet the violation of any provision of this ordinance shall, upnn
conviction, be fined in any sum not to exceed Tw-o Hundred Dollars ($206).
SEX;T!ON 5. That the City Secretary is hereby directed to cause
publication of the descriptive caption of this ordinance together with
the penalty clause, as an alternative method as provided by law.
SECTION 6. That the enactment of this ordinance, being necessary
to the public safety and to provide for a greater use of the public streets
and due to the changing traffic conditions, is declared to be an emergency
measure, thereby creating a public necessity that the rule requiring pro-
posed ordinances to be presented at two (2) separate meetings be dispensed
with; and this ordinance shall be effective from the date of publication
as herein provided.
