AN ORDI~E AMENDING SECTION 23 OF ORDINAlCE NO. 564 AS .AMENDED BY
ORDINA:OOE NO. 1414, THERBBY CHANGING PARKING METER NOS. I-12-1.3 AND
I-12-15 eN THE EAST SIDE OF TEXAS AVENUE IN THE 1200 BLOCK OF SAID STREET,
FROM ONE-NICKEL, ONE-HOUR PARKING TO 12-MINUTES FOR ONE-PENNY, 24 MINUTES
FOR TWO-PENNIES; REPEALING ALL CONFLICTING ORDINANCES; PROVIDING A PENALTY;
AUTHORIZING PUBLICATION; AND ~LARING AN EMERG~Y.
WHEREAS, the City Commission has, as a result of changed traffic con-
ditions, adopted the recommendation of the City Traffic Engineer to change
certain one-hour parking meters to 24-minute parking meters; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
S~TION 1. That Section 2.3 of Ordinanoe No. 564 as amended by Ordin-
ance 1414 is hereby amended so as to change and modify the l ength of the
parking time permitted on the East Side of Texas Avenue in the 1200 Block
at meter location Nos. I-12-1.3 and I-12-15, 'so as to prohibit parking for
a longer continuous period than 24 minutes.
S~TION 2. That the City Traffic Engineer is hereby authorized and
directed to install and place in operation twelve (12)-minute, one-pen~,
twenty-four (24)-m.inute, two-pennies, parking ~tars at the following
location:
Parking meter location Nos. I-12-1.3 and I-12-15, on the
East Side of the 1200 Block of Texas Avenue~
S~TION .3. That that part of the provision of any ordinance or order
in conflict with this ordinance is herebr repealed.
SEX:TION 4. That any parson, firm or corporation who shall violate,
aid or abet the violation of any provision of this ordinance shall, upon
conviction, be fined in any sum not to exceed Two Hundred Dollars (1200).
S~TION 5. That the City Secretary is hereby directed to cause
publication of the descriptive caption of this ordinance together with
the penalty clause, as an alternative method as provided by law.
S~TION 6. That the enactment of this ordinance, being necessary
to the public safety and to provide for a greater use of the public streets
and due to the changing traffic conditions, is declared to be an emergency
~asure, therel}y creating a publ ic necessity that the rule requiring pro-
posed ordinances to be presented at two (2) separate mattings be dispensed
with; and this ordinance shall be effective from the date of publication
as herein provided.
