AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 23 Oli" ORDINAN.CE NO. 564 AS
AMENDED BY ORDINANCE NO. 1414, THEREBY CHANGING PARKING
METER NOS. 13-10-02, 13-10•04. 13·10 .. 06, 13·9-16 A.ND 13·9-18, ALL ON
THE NORTH SIDE OF 13TH STREET IN THE 900 AND 1000 BLOCKS OF SAID
STREET, FROM ONE•NICKEL,. ONE-HO~-PA1l:JCNG TO lZ-MINUTES FOR
ONE-PENNY, M MINUTES FOR TWO-PENNIES; REPEALING ALL CON•
FLICTING ORDINANCES; Plt0VIDING A PENALTY; AUTHORIZING POBLI·
CATION; AND DEClARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS. the City Commission has, as a result of changed traffic con-
ditions, adopted the recommendation of the C.Uy Traffic Engineer to change
certain one-hour parking meters to .Z4-minute parking meters; NOW, THERE-
FORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCKt'
SECTION 1. That Section Z3 of Ordinance No. 564 as amended by Ordin·
ance 1414 is hereby amended so as to change and modify the length of the park-
ing time permitted on the North side of the 900 and 1000 Blocks of 13th Street
at meter locations Nos. 13-10-02. 13-10-04. 13-10•06, 13·9-16 and 13-9•18, so a• to prohibit parking for a longer continuous period thaill4 minutes.
SECTION z. That the City Traffic Engineer is hereby authorized and di•
rected to install and place in operation twelve (ll)-minute, one•penny, twenty ..
four (Z4)•minate, two•penniea, parking meters at the following location:
Parking meter location Nos. 13•10-0Z, 13-10-04, 13-10•06
and 13•10-08 on the North aide of the 1000 Block of 13th Street
and 13•9-16 and 13 .. 9-18 on the North side of the 900 Block of
13th Street.
SECTION 3. That that part of the provision of any ordinance or order
in conflict with this ordinance is hereby repealed.
SECTION 4. That any persons firm •:>r corporation who aha.ll violate. aid
or abet the violation of any provision of this ordinance shall. upon conviction,
be fined in any sum not to exceed Two Hundred Dollars ($260).
SECTION 5. That the City Secretary is hereby directed to cause publica-
tion of the descriptive caption of thia ordinance together with the penalty
clause, as an alternative method as provided by law.
SECTION 6. That the enactment of this ordinance, being necessary to the
public safety and to provideltor a greater use of the public streets and due to 1 the changing traffic conditions, is declared to be an emergency measure, there-
by creating a public necesaity that the rule requiring proposed ordinances to
be presented at two (2) separate meetings be dispensed with; and this ordinance
shall be effective from the date of publication as herein provided.
AND IT IS SO ORDERED.
