AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A NO-PARKING ZONE ON THE NORTH AND SOUTH SIDE
OF 8TH STF!EET EAST AND WEST OF THE INTERSECTION OF 8TH STREET WITH AVENUE Q

A DISTANCE OF THREE HUNDRED (.300r) FEET ON EACH SIDE OF SUCH INTERSECTION; I
AUTHORIZING THE PAINTING OF CURBS AND THE ERECTION OF SIGNS; PROVIDING A PENALTY;
REPEALING CONFLICTING ORDINANCES; AUTHORIZING PUBLICATION; AND DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, in the interest of public safety, changed traffic conditions
creating a public hazard require a No-Parking Zone to be established on the
North~and South side of 8th Street East and West of the intersection of 8th
Street with Avenue Q a distance of three hundred (300') feet on each side of
such intersection; N 0 W, T H E R E F 0 R E,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. That a No-Parking Zone BE, and it is hereby established on
the following de!lcribed portion of street, and it shall hereafter be unlawful
for any person operating, driving or in control of a vehicle to allow, permit
or suffer such vehicle to be parked in that portion of the street hereinafter
described as constituting a No-Parking Zone.
SECTION 2. That' that portion of street referred to in Section 1 (One)
of this Ordinance as a No-Parking Zone is as follows:-
On the North and South side of 8th Street East and West of
the intersection of 8th Street with Avenue Q a distance of
three hundred (300 1 ) on each side of such intersection.
SECTION .3. That the Traffic Engineer is hereby authorized and directed to
paint or cause to be painted the curbs and to erect signs indicating a No-Parking
Zone consistent with the provisions of this Ordinance.
SECTION 4. That any person who shall suffer or parmi t any vehicle operated,
driven or controlled b,y him to be parked in the area described in Section 2(Two)
of this Ordinance shall upon conviction, be fined in any sum not exceeding Two
Hundred Dollars ($.200.).
SECTION 5. That all portions of all other ordinances in conflict with
the provisionl!l of this Ordinance are hereby repealed.
SECTION 6. That the City Secretary is authorized to cause publication of
the descriptive caption of this Ordinance, together with the penalty clause,
as an alternative mthod provided by la-w.
SECTION 7. That the enactment of this Ordinance being necessary to the
public safety and to provided a greater use of the public streets and, due to
changed traffic eondi tions, is declared to be an emrgency masure, thereby
creating a public necessity that the rule requiring proposed ordinanQ..es to be
presented at two separate ~etings be dispensed 'With; and this ordinan~ shall
be effective from the date of publication, as herein provided.
