AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING 'A TAXI LOADING ZO~tE ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF MAIN
STREET BEGINNING EIGHTY-oNE (81') FEET EAST OF AVENUE M AND EXTENDING EAST A
DISTANCE OF THIRTY-NINE (39t) FEEl'; AUTHORIZING PAINTING OF CURBS AND THE
PLACEMH:NT OF SIGNS INDICATING A TAXI LOADING ZONE; REPEALING ALL CONF!.ICTING
ORDINANCES AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, in the interest of public safety and welfare, changed traffic::l
conditions with respect to the loading and unloading of passengers make it
imperative that the establishment of a taxi loading zone be created; N 0 W,
THERE F 0 R E,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. That a taxi loading zone BE, and is hereb,y created in the
following locations

On the South side of Main s ·treet beginning eighty-one (81 c) II
feet East of Avenue M and extending East a distance of
thirty-nine (39t) feet.
SECTION 2. That any part of any ordinance or order conflicting herewith
is here by repealed.
SECTION 3. That the Traffic Engineer is hereb,y authorized and directed to
cause the curbs-in the above desctibed zone to be painted and said zone plainly U marked as Taxi Loading Zone.

SECTION 4. Due to the changing traffic conditions, creating a hazard
injurious to the public and the public use of the streets, the enactment of
this ordinance is declared to be an EMERGENCY MEASURE, thereby creating a
public neoessity that the rule requiring proposed ordinances to be presented
at two separate Commission meetings be dispensed 'With; and this ordinance shall
be effective from the date of its passage as provided by law.
