AN ORDINANCE ABANOONING AND CLOSING A PORTION OF AUBURN STREET BETWEEN ·
THE WEST RIGHT-OF-WAY LINE OF AVENUE Q NE AND THE EAST RIGHT-OF-WAY LINE OF
THE RAll.BOAD IN LUBBOCK, LUBBOCK COUNTY, TEXAS, BEING M:JRE PARTICULARLY DES-
CRIBED BY ME:TES AND OOUNDS IN THE El)DY OF THIS ORDINANCE.
WHE:REAS, the City Commission finds that a portion of Auburn Street
between the West right-of-vay line of Avenue Q NE and the East right-of-
way line of the Railroad in Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas, is no longer
needed for street or any other public purpose and there remains no public
need for the maintenance of such street; and,
WHEREAS, the City Commission finds that it would be in the public in-
terest to CLOSE, VACATE and ABANDON same for street purposes and to public
travel; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDliNED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUB:OOCKs
SECTION 1. That the part of Auburn Street lying between the West right-
ot-way line of Avenue Q NE and the East right-of-way line of the Railroad in
Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas, hereinafter described by :metes and bounds,al,
and the same is hereby in all things ABANOONED and CI.DSED for street pur-
poses and public travel, such portion of street being described as follows,
to-wit:
Being the North twenty (20) feet of that part of Auburn Street ·1i ;M
between the West right-of-way of Avenue Q NE and the East right-
of-way of the Railroad, more particularly described by metes and
bounds as followss
BE:GINNING at a point 68.6 .feet West of the Southeast corner of
Block 64, Roberts and McWhorter Addition to the City of Lubbo~,
Lubbock County, Texas;
THENCE West along the South line of Block 64 a distance of 151.63
feet to a point in the East right-of-way line of the Railroad;
THENCE South along the said East right-of-way line of the -Railroad
a distance of twnty ~(20) feet to a point;
THENCE East a distance of 148.70 feat to a point in the West
right-of-way line of Avenue Q NE;
THENCE North 8° 21 t East a distance of 20.21 feet to the POINT
OF BEGINNING;
Containing 3,003.30 square feet of land, more or lass.
SECTION 2. That the City Engineer BE and he is hereby authorized and
directed to mark the official map of the City of Lubbock indicating that this
portion of a street has been closed and aband~ned showing the number of this
~rdinance and the data of its final passage.
