HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance - 1614-1954 - Establishing No Parking Zone On The N And S Side Of 34Th St. - 09/23/1954' ...,. _.,., Jouy ~-28-54 to ~ity Atty , rraffic Dept •• Fo.lice Dept. 09 -~3-1.954-- 0RDINANCE NO ._16;..;;.1.4..;..... __ AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING NO PARKING ZONES ON THE NORTH AND SOUTH SIDE OF 34TH STREET, BEGINNIKG AT THE INTERSECTION OF INDIANA AVENUE AND 34TH STREET AND EXTENDING EAST THREE HUNDRED (3001 ) FEE'!', AND ON THE NORTH AND SOUTH SIDE OF SAID 34TH STREET, BEXi!NNING AT A POINT THREE HUNDRED (3001) FEET EAST OF THE INTERSECTION OF AVENUE LAND 34TH STREET AND EXTENDING WEST TO A POINT THRPE HUNDRED (.300') ft:EI' WEST OF THE INTERSECTION OF AVENUE L AND 34TH STREET; AUTHORIZING THE PAINTING OF CURBS AND ERECTION OF SIGNS; PIDVIDING A PENALTY:; REPEAL'IOO CONFLICTING ORDINANCES; AUTHORIZING PUBLICATION; AND DECLARIOO AN EMEIUENCY. WHEREAS, in the interest of public safet7, changed traffic eondi tions creating a public hazard require a No-Parking Zone to be establiehed at points described in the caption of this ordinance and hereafter more particularlY" des- cribed, and constituting an emergency; mw, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINPD BY THE CITY COMUSSIOti OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION 1. THAT a No-Parking Zone BE, and is hereby" established 011 the follwoing described portion of streets hereinafter designated, and it shall hereafter be unlawful for a~ person operating, driving or in control of a ve- hicle to allow, permit or suf'fer such vehicle to be parked on the portion or the streets more particular]Jr described as follows: (1) On the North and South side of 34th Street, beginning at the inte~ section of Indiana Avenue and 34th Street ani extendiDg East 300 f'eet. (2) On the North and South side ot 34th Street, beginning at a point 300 feet East of tbe intersection of Avenue L and )4th Street, and extendi11g West to a point 300 feet West of the intersection of Avenue L and )4th Street. '" SECI'ION 2. That the Traffic Ellgineer is hereby authorized and directed to paint or cause to be painted the eurbs and to erect signs indicatillg a No- Parking Zone consistent with the provisions of this ordina.n~e. SECTION 3. That any person who shall sutter or permit any vehicle oper- ated, driven or co.ntrolled by him t ·o be parked in the areas described in Sec- tion 1 (One) of this ordinance shall upon conviction, be fined in any sum not exceeding Two Hundred Dollars (1200). SEOTION 4. That all portions of' all otber ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby" repealed. SECl'lOH 5. That the Cit7 Secretary is authorized to cause publication of the descriptive caption of this ordinance, together with the penalty clause, as an alternative aethod provided by law. -=======--=+-===-====w--==~-====-==~-t II v -_]-:0. That the enactnant of this ordinance being necessary to the public safety and to provide a greater use or the public streets and, due to changed traffic conditions, is declared to be an emrgency measure, thereby creating a public necessit.y that the rule requiring proposed ordinances to be presented at two separate meetings be dispensed vi th; and this ordinance shall be effective .from the date or publication, as herein provided • .
