M. TO 5:00 O'CLOCK P. M. ON THE WEST SIDE OF CANTON AVENUE, BEGINNING AT THE IN- TERSECTION OF 25TH STREET AND CANTON AVENUE AND EXTENDING SOUTH TO THE IN- 4 TERSECTION OF 26TH STREET AND CANTON AVENUE, AND ON THE EAST SIDE OF CANTON AVENUE, B:exUNNING AT THE INTERSECTION OF 3C1l'H STREET AND CANTON AVENUE SOOTH TO THE INTERSECTION OF 32ND STREET AND CANTON AVENUE; AlJI'HORIZING THE PAINT- ING OF CURBS AND ERECTION OF SIGNS; PROVIDING A PENALTY; REPEALING CONFLICT- ING ORDINANCES; AUTHORIZING PUBLICATION; AND DECLARING AN EMEIDENCY. WHEREAS, in the interest ot public safety, changed traffic conditions creating a public hazard require a No-Parking Zone to be established at points described in the caption of this ordinance and hereafter more particularly des- cribed, and constituting an emergency; NOW, THERE:roRE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMO:SSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION 1. THAT a No-Parking Zone BE, and is hereby established on·the following described portion or streets hereinafter designated from 8:00 otclock A. M. to 5:00 o'clock P. M., and it shall hareatter be unlawful tor any person operating, driving or in control of a vehicle to allov, permit or sutter such vehicle to be parked trom 8:00 olclock A. M. to 5:00 o'clock P. M. on the por- tion of the streets more particularly described as follows: (1) On the West side ot Canton Avenue, beginning at the intersection ot 25th Street and Canton Avenue and extending South to the inter- section of 26th Street vi th Canton Avenue. (2) On the East side ot Canton Avenue, beginning at the intersection ot 3oth Street and Canton Avenue South to the intersection of 32nd Street and Canton Avenue. · SECTION 2. That the Traf.f'ic Engineer is hereby' authorized and directed to paint or cause to be painted the curbs and to erect signs indicating a No- Parking Zone consistent vith the provisions of this ordinance. SECTION 3. That any person who shall suffer or permit any vehicle oper- ated, driven or controlled by him to be parked in the areas described in Sec- tion 1 (One) ot this ordinance shall upon conviction, be tined in a~ sum not exceeding Two Hundred Dollars ($200) • . SECTION 4. That all portions of all other ordinances in conflict with the provisions ot this ordinance are hereby repealed. SEX:TION 5. That the City Secretary is authorized to cause publication ot the descriptive caption ot this ordinance, together vith the penalty~clause, as an alternative method provided by lav. SECTION 6. That the enactment or this ordinance being necessary to the ...../' public safety and to provide a greater use of the public streets and, due to changed traffic conditions 1 is declared to be an emergency measure 1 thereby creating a public necessity that the rule requiring proposed ordinances to be presented at tvo separate meetings be dispensed with; and this ordina.nce shall be ef"fective trom the date of publication, as herein provided.
