AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING THE OPERATION OF CIRCUS!S, CARNIVALS, O'O"f-DOOR
SHOWS AND SIMU.AR EXHIBITIONS WITHIN THE CORFORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF LUB-
BOCK, EXCEPT ON THE PAN'HANlLE SOUTH PLAI1TS FAIR GROUNDS; EXCEFI'ING SHOWS IN
ESTABLISHED THEATERS, AUDI;J;9~-bWnOTHER PERMANENT BUILDINGS IN THE CITY;
AND EXCEPTI'tli SHOWS SPONSO~·'l'JM"'CITY PARK AND/OR RECREATION D~ARI'MENT
OR THE CITY OF LUBBOCK ON CITY-OWNED PROPERI'Y; PROVIDING A PENALTY.
-BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SEcTION 1: It shall hereafter be unlawful to operate any circus, carni-
val, out-door show or similar exhibitions and shows operating under tents or
in temporary buildings or structures, within the corpora. te limits of the City
of-Lubbock UNLESS the same be operated on the Panhandle South Plains Fair
GXtOUnds.
SEC!' ION 2. Nothing contained in Section 1 (One) of this ordinance is
intended to apply to local shows or aJmlSemente held in established theaters,
auditoriums or other permanent buildings in the City and the provisions of
said Section 1 (One) shall not apply to exhibitions of any nature sponsored,or ap]: roo"
by the -City of Lubbock or the Park and/or Recreation Department on City-owned
property.
SECTION 3. It is intended that the provisions of Section 1 (One) shall
apply to traveling shows, carnivals, faire and exhibitions which operate for
a temporary period, and in connection with such operation charge admission
to the general public, which exhibl. tions use t emporary structures and/or tents
in cormection with such shows, carnivals and similar exhibi tiona.
SECTION 4. '\!Jhoever shall violate the provisions of Section 1 (One) of
this ordinance shall upon convict!on be fined in any sum not exceeding Two
Hundred ($200.00) Dollars.
